It plays a part I think but not as big a part as the paycheck.

The Habs did themselves a favor with the run this year. It shows some UFA that they're on the way up, not down.

Post 1994 lockout once players started getting autonomy, it’s been all about making bank / taxes & Mtl fan / media glare, as primary reasons for avoiding the market
