Hopefully they come down to Ft Bragg and Fayetteville again
Fayetteville Street didn’t re-open for cars until November 2006. Maybe it came down Hillsborough and stopped at the Capitol? Too bad the view from the Capitol to Memorial Auditorium will be gone shortly as the new Omni Hotel gets built between Lenoir and South streets. They did drive the boys in open top cars to a stage at City Plaza for the speachifying, but for some reason it never got billing over the parking lot thing and the thing downtown kind of came together last minute. It was a weird time down at City Hall. Meeker never had much of a feel for the people when it came to that sort of thing and the city wasn’t really used to hosting big events downtown. It’s a different era now that they’ve hosted festivals for years and aren't terrified of crowds.
Didn’t Wesley do that on his day with the Cup? I saw him at the Food Lion in Atlantic Beach (yes that one again) on his day.Hopefully they come down to Ft Bragg and Fayetteville again
They did a team building exercise at Bragg that September and brought the cup....Laviolette and most of the team, if not all of themDidn’t Wesley do that on his day with the Cup? I saw him at the Food Lion in Atlantic Beach (yes that one again) on his day.
Not to rain on the parade...pardon the pun, but Mike Manaspellcheck was just on Sirius XM NHL and said that number is ticking way way up past the Mayors office number and the Canes org are actually expecting closer to 200K for Saturday...that is downright frightening in some respects in regards to getting close to much of the action but we are still going to brave it!!!All joking aside, the Mayors office is expecting up to 100,000 people downtown for the parade and celebration on Saturday. PLEASE have a (realistic) plan if you’re going to go. The idea of securing a hotel room is a good one, but you’ll need to nail something down fairly soon and plan on hunkering down once you get there. Ubers/Lyfts and cabs will be expensive and hard to come by on the day. Downtown hotel rooms sell out for Hopscotch and the Bluegrass Festival (RIP) every year, with WAY less people involved. Just sayin … I may be out of the travel planning business these days, but you’ll want to plan ahead. This ain’t the Raleigh Christmas Parade where you can make a spur of the moment decision and have a great time. It also ain’t 2006 anymore, Toto.
It's the Woodstock counting method. At one point, I think at one point, they estimated 50 kabillion people were there. And if you talk to most any baby boomer, every single one of them in that generation were there. How does one estimate 100 or 200k showing up......i mean, is someone taking a gallup poll? Are they listening in on our siri conversations? Or, more likely, they are pulling numbers out of their rear ends. Hell, I heard 500K![]()
Yep, that's where it ended and had a rally.Fayetteville Street didn’t re-open for cars until November 2006. Maybe it came down Hillsborough and stopped at the Capitol?
I know one thing...there are probably more than a few downtown Raleigh residents who live most of their lives under a rock who are about to shit their pants all day Saturday when they venture out from under that rock for their morning routine...How does one estimate 100 or 200k showing up......i mean, is someone taking a gallup poll? Are they listening in on our siri conversations? Or, more likely, they are pulling numbers out of their rear ends. Hell, I heard 500K![]()
A Place at the Table on Hargett St is pretty good and has a model I love "Pay what you can" or you pay regular prices..pay it forward...etc....and the food is good too.Any good recommendations for a breakfast downtown on Saturday?
Haven't been in a couple of years, but Rye in the Marriott on Fayetteville was really good and opens at 7 for breakfastAny good recommendations for a breakfast downtown on Saturday?
Big Eds is a must-do for a part of Raleigh culture. There's always long lines and this Saturday will most definitely be crazy.Any good recommendations for a breakfast downtown on Saturday?

Huh? Wtf does that mean other than I suppose I'm not "certain people"The rally in City Plaza at the end of the parade will be secure and access will be restricted. What a pile of pigshit.
