2026 Hurricanes Off Season Thread

We are looking to be somewhere on Fayetteville St. to watch the parade go by. I don't know exactly how early we need to actually be planning on getting to Fayetteville street with our chairs if we realistically want to be able to claim space for 3 people. I do know that no matter how early I think is too early on Saturday morning, there will be plenty of yahoos already claiming spots at 6PM tonight. I mean, I love the Canes and we were not here for the 2006 celebration, but we are not camping out all night.

I’m going to try to park at the garage between Wilmington, Blount and Cabarrus and get my wife and our friend set up in City Plaza before wandering around. Both of them have mobility issues so walking isn’t an option for them. We’re leaving early enough so that if it’s not an option, I can turn around, head home and watch it on TV.

Any good recommendations for a breakfast downtown on Saturday?
My go-to was Beasley’s which is sadly gone. Big Ed’s is my normal recommendation otherwise, but it’s a zoo on a regular Saturday and this won’t be that. Raleigh Times is good, there’s a La Farm down in Glenwood South which is always nice, and Jubala is also good … best coffee of that lot. A little further out, there’s Biscuit Belly over near Peace College and Flying Biscuit at Cameron Village (or whatever they're calling it now). All solid options, nothing spectacular though.

Also, the “certain people” restriction at City Plaza sounds ominous. You would have thought the Canes would have offered access to STMers if there were tickets being sold or something, but nope.

I don't understand why the City of Raleigh didn't make plans for bus service from the Lenovo Center - especially for people coming from further away. This will likely be the largest attendance of a parade in the city's history and you think someone would have thought this through.

I live about 2.5 miles from the Capitol, so I'm going to hoof it. Unfortunately, my wife is just 3 months shy of her knee replacement surgery, so she will probably watch it from home.

Lololololol. The City of Raleigh is and always has been allergic to using buses to solve problems even when buses would solve their problems.

This is actually a brilliant idea.

How they didn't think of this is beyond me.

100000+, or whatever number of, people aren't going to be able to gather closely enough around the City Plaza to say they were there either way though, so even staying in a hotel couple blocks away to eliminate some of the hassle, I'm pretty much expecting disappointment.

I was about to post this......they have to limit it somehow - 100k....hell 10k probably wouldn't fit in that space. But, no matter what they did, people would be disappointed with something. It's just the nature of the beast

That wasn't my point.

Limiting WHO can get in regardless of how long someone has been waiting to get into that space is the issue

Oh I get it, my first reaction being my "I'm not certain people" comment last night...

I was hoping to get as close to the rally location at the Plaza as possible as early as possible and just stay there. May have to alter plan to find a Fayetteville St. parade location near the end and near one of these video screens mentioned.

What is weird is ABC 11 articles says that but the Canes site does not even mention it. They just say they will have big screens along Fayetteville St for those who dont have a spot in the plaza. My thinking is they will have the area around the team blocked off so fans aren't trying to get in to get a shot with the cup and players. The newest ABC article just says that Fayetteville St will be closed and that fans can gather on it to watch the Rally in the plaza

Following the conclusion of the parade, there will be a rally held at City Plaza, where fans can gather to hear from players, coaches, and special guests. Screens and audio will be placed along Fayetteville St., so those who do not have a spot in City Plaza will be able to watch and hear speeches during the rally.
  • Fayetteville Street will be closed for fans to see the rally.

I don’t know if early iterations of this post had the parade groups but they’re listed here. The players will be grouped into 4 floats at the end. Dundon, Tulsky and RBA each get their own float. Also note that Jarvy’s buddies get a float.

That all seems like what you’d expect and if the additional information was just on ABC11’s site then it was probably wrong.

I'd hate to think how many people those moron drivers would run over. Prick bastards motherfuckers can all rot.

Yeah. That’s one labor pool that is wildly improved if you are an actual tourist destination with tons of private coach drivers. If Raleigh wanted to beef up the bus pool for a one day event, they’d run out of competent drivers before they ran out of buses.

BTW, since I’m probably out of here for the rest of the day … I hope everybody that’s heading down for the parade has a great and memorable time with as few logistical issues as possible. Enjoy it. You never know when you’ll get another one so listen to Roddy and stack those memories.
