"Senators suspend assistant GM Lee a week before the draft......Lee is charged with second-degree harassment after allegedly making lewd comments and rubbing the shoulders of a 19-year-old male hotel shuttle driver in Buffalo on May 30. He has pled not guilty and is due in court on July 6."

What on earth is going on in Ottawa?

Correct.

You shouldn't be using Toews as your matchup guy anyway at this point, it's not how you're going to get the most out of your 10.5 million. JVR on Toews wing could actually work if there was a good motor 2 way RW on the other side.

I wonder if moving Saad to RW and going JVR/Toews/Saad would work

What kind of deal does Domi get? Working out an extension in the next few days

hmm.

even strength last 3yrs:

Domi (23): 222gms, 31gls, 101pts (82gms, 12gls/37pts)
Galy (24): 225gms, 42gls, 96pts (82gms, 15gls/35pts)

and domi can skate.

I just did a better breakdown on the Habs board and it's not as bad a deal as I thought at first. 5 on 5 they're almost a wash offensively, but Domi is the much better 2 way player (not good, just better). AG is a legit weapon on the PP though, and Domi is pretty bad on the PP. Domi's P1/60 on the PP is the same as Auston Matthews 5 on 5 P1/60

3yrs

Domi: ES 13:47 (B), 1.82p60, 1.41p160, -0.7cfr, +0.4xgfr / PP 2:45, 3.43p60, 2.22p160
Galy: ES 13:31 (B-), 1.88p60, 1.49p160, -1.4cfr, -3.3xgfr / PP 2:37, 5.46p60, 3.88p160

galy's got more pure skill and that shows on the PP but I'll take Domi at Even strength.

I don't really understand this trade.

Like, in a straight-up, "how good is each of these guys at playing hockey" comparison, I do think these two guys are pretty close. But once again, when the team has multiple gaping holes at center ice, and they're dying for some mobility and skill on their back-end, Bergevin's gone out and blown his biggest trade chip on an undersized winger.

And seriously, I'll have a good belly laugh if Bergevin comes out and announces that, once again, they'll try to convert his new winger to a center.

What also shouldn't be lost in all this is that the Montreal Canadiens organization pretty much systematically destroyed Galchenyuk's trade value and completely bungled his development. If Galchenyuk goes to Arizona, turns back into a 30/60 center and they manage to have anywhere close to the success Babcock had developing Kadri into a strong two way center...well, this one will end up looking pretty ugly.

This trade has "culture change" written all over it though. Those type of trades tend to flop more often than not.

So Montreal had a C (Galchenyuk) who they insist is a winger, and traded for a W ( Drouin) that they converted to C.

They have minimal trade chips ( Galchenyuk, Pacioretty) and are a team desperate for C ( one of which they have, but, **** it, he's a W) and D.

They trade the W that should be a C, but in their eyes is a W for some reason.....for....a W with less upside....
