Yeah, Sid & Gino probably should have seen the writing on the wall back then but I get them trying to take one more shot. At this point they should either be down with riding out their last few years surrounded by kids on a bad team, or if they want to stay competitive to try to win again, start looking to finish their careers elsewhere. They don't have to do the Mario thing and stay with the Pens forever because he did.

They could still do pretty well unloading Sid, Gino, Karlsson, Letang, Rust, Rakell, etc.

If the Oilers lose this series they are officially the worst team in the playoffs...LA is losing close games to the powerful Avs, they can compete Defensively against COL but they struggle to score goals and they cant bully them physically Even though they are a big team overall. Its Far different than a veteran EDM team giving up 16 goals in 3 games to a 92 point Young Anaheim team in their first ever Playoff appearance for this core of players . Last time ANA made the playoffs was 2018, 8 years ago.

For sure, but it all goes by what Sid wants. I know that GMs act like they pretty much never ask players to waive their NTCs... but I truly believe that nobody would even think about approaching Sid with the question. They just have to wait for him to ask.

Geno is actually a UFA after this season, and it sounded like they weren't going to try to re-sign him. I suppose that could have changed since they were competitive this year.

I honestly don’t fault the Pens at all for their “do whatever the fuck Sid wants” approach.

I feel like if the Leafs had a dude who’d been their captain for multiple decades, had one of the best NHL careers of all-time only ever wearing a Leaf jersey and had led us to three Cups…I’d want us to just do whatever the hell that dude wanted and ideally for them to retire a Leaf. Even if it wasn’t 100% the best thing for the team now & going forward.

Lifetime pass for a true franchise player/legend. I perfectly understand that. You cant force him out like some hasbeen/undesirable scrub after What he did for your org.
