Honestly I would have loved to see OTT slap FLA with tampering considering all the evidence was live streamed on a podcast

The trade demand is different than his nationalistic stuff. I don’t care about that. The card to play was to let the world know he demanded a trade while being the captain, and the maga stuff would just add fuel.

five years ago, half the teams in the league were in tank mode…now almost every team is trying to make the playoffs

I’m not going to handhold you and others all day over something so simple. Yes, it helps put a ton of pressure on Brady because it would be impossible for him to come back. Now he needs to make damn sure he’s traded, which means Matthew needs to do everything on his end to make it happen, which means that Zito will be pressed to give up more if needed to pull it off, which means the Sens get a better deal.

Eh Ottawa's not really in a spot to where they should take a step back.

They dont need to move 9, and probably shouldn't but they should be using some of these picks on a top 6 winger that is going to be a Senator for a while, if they can.

Im assuming they end up getting Jake DeBrusk and everyone makes the best of it, but they should aim for better, maybe McCann?

The 9th might be able to step in, so it’s not like some kind of crazy urgency to get rid of it. The later picks, you can find a deal for in less than a week or on draft day. They can look to free agency to bathe Tuch in cash. Whatever they do, they had time to drag this out more and to do certain things to ramp up the pressure.

I think McKenna and Stenberg are the only guys in this draft that will be in the NHL year 1, but i could be wrong

I don’t care about the Sens. But if I did, I wouldn’t want you to be their GM. Too much hope going on for my liking

This has been my takeaway the entire time. The 9 gets you a high level prospect that if you develop well, fits into your core long term. The rest of the picks are more than enough to turn into NHL help now. 2 1sts + 2nd gets you into the conversation on nearly every available winger in the league.

For argument sake, if an RFA like Dorofeyev or Zegras run into issues re signing and you can pick one of them up for roughly ~2 1sts. You've replaced the vast majority of Brady's on ice value while adding an A or A- prospect to your group. Considering that this wasn't your choice and it was forced on you, that's just good business.
