Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

If the Panthers weren't interested in giving up a player, Zito should have at least been on the hook to work out a 3-way deal to obtain said player.

That said, Baby Tkachuk got dummied in the first shift of the first round, proceeded to go pointless in a playoff sweep, and decided to run away from it. I hope Senators fans throw baby soothers on the ice whenever he's back in Ottawa.

As i said, Ottawa could have had Mamie Smitrovich and chose a pick instead

Why conflate and complicate the two moves though? Why trust him to get a better deal for a player you want, with time pressure, than you can get for yourself without time pressure?

I don't think people are appreciating how this opportunity (the 9 and the 25) basically goes away in 3 days and the Sens would have been left with a Captain demanding out and the only team he's willing to waive his NMC to without the assets you want.

That would be a great marketing idea for his return.

Why wouldnt montreal do it?

Looking at the contract situation you have 1 notable RFA this year and then Demidov next year.

Majority of the D is locked in long term, same with your high skill forwards.

Gally is dead and Anderson wouldnt be opposed to a move to the States for tax reasons.

Right now actually appears to be a very good time cap wise to take a run at a high priced long term piece.
I'd love to have him... But I'd look at trying to land an impact center first.

Was listening to Sirius and this is the general sentiment, not just from the organization and the fans but also in the locker room.

There was an Ottawa sports analyst (cant remember his name) talking about this.
He was saying that there was a lot of 'white noise' around Brady for most of the year.. He was implying that the team tried to extend him and knew early in the process it wasn't going to get done, so this trade demand etc wasnt a huge surprise to anyone involved. I don't think there is much love lost between management/ownership and Brady.
Going to venture a guess that Florida knew this was going to happen way before it actually happened.
