Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

I cannot overstate how happy I am to have Hughes as a GM. I guess it's possible for me to disagree with his valuation at some point... but I just don't have any fear that we're going to have a train run on us like this at any point.

It's just shocking how dumb some of these GMs are. Like how does Davidson not shop that around and get something better? It is legitimately impossible for him to not have gotten way better. So, what, was this some kind of favor he owed by letting Buffalo negotiate exclusively maybe, or was he so in love with Byram and sees him as a surefire #1 that he's getting for a mystery bag? It is just so insanely stupid. And to top it off, he's signing him to $12.5M long term?

It's clear these guys don't talk to everyone the way they ought to, the same way that the moron Tre seemed to be just entertaining Montreal's offer for Knies without knowing how bad it was because he didn't let the market inform him.

Just proves there are far more stupid front offices out there that most of you give them credit for. So many potential steals that could be had if you just do the work and know what you're doing.

I think this was more about wanting Byram, than trying to move the pick. They obviously want to stop rebuilding and start winning, and Byram is 25 years old. They'll give him all the minutes and probably PP1. He'll certainly be better the next 2-3 years than anybody they would have drafted.

That still doesn't justify the price. Upside is great but one year of Byram before having to pay him big bucks just isn't worth this much at current market value.

Enjoy it while it lasts because the truly incompetent ones will be phased out eventually
