Never said he's a bad goalie. He's a very good one. But if he can't play more than 35 games a season and can't be expected to be around for a full playoff series, what good is he?you definitely underrate Stolarz ... he is hurt very often yes, but when he plays he's a good goalie. It could be a very good tandem in theory if Bobrovsky has anything left in the tank, i would just rather not risk $21 million over three years to find out
I do think it actually will be a very good tandem, but Stolarz/Hildeby also could have been just as good or better, and cost us $6M less that we could reinvest in a good forward. Do we want Stolarz/Hildeby and Marchment (assuming he was open) or Bob/Stolarz and Blueger and be hoping that Bob isn't bad and Stolarz stays moderately healthy? It's such an easy choice and it's unsettling that Chaykes botched it.
