Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

That 1st round pick may be decent. Lots of age related decline risk. Lost some talent too.

If the hockey gods have a sense of humour, they’ll finish low enough in the standings that the pick will be 11th overall and avoid the top-10 protection the Avs put on it, but then Colorado will win the lottery and the pick will slide to 2028.

Though the most likely outcome is that they’re still comfortably a playoff team even if they’re not as good as they once were, and then we trade away the pick.

Lost Nichushkin, Drury and Colton and the second line there has two 34 year olds and a 35 year old. Plus Kadri is 35. Manson is 35, Burns is 90.

I'm sure they'll be fine especially in a shit conference, but that team has downgraded and their depth is old as poop.

If that happens, the pick will either be #11 or it'll be in the top 10 and the receiving team will get an unprotected 1st in 2028. And it'll be #1.

I'm playing the role of leafsgm here.

The Chaykanator may be a dumbass when it comes to 4th liners and the allocation of cap dollars, but hopefully he’s smart enough to put top-10 protection on any 1st rounder he trades away, including Colorado’s.

Him announcing he’s going to file for arbitration strikes me as him putting the word out to the league that if anyone wants to tender a massive offer-sheet to him, they have until 5pm today to do it.

Which Dallas will match and then he won’t be able to get out of there.

I guess that’s the question. Does Robertson want to get out of there? Or is the whole dispute just that Dallas won’t pay him what he thinks he’s worth?

Because yeah, if he wants to leave, then he can’t sign an offer sheet. Arbitration and a one-year deal that walks him to UFA status next year would be the way to go.
