Around The League - 2025 Offseason

Why would the Preds trade a alleged #1 goalie who is under contractual control?
They don't have to... But they will eventually.

With Saros locked up, Askarov's not going to patiently wait 8 years to get an opportunity to be a #1. Plus, he could walk as a UFA before the contract ends.

The logical conclusion is, Nashville will end up trading Askarov once they get their asking price. There was a report last year that they wanted to trade Askarov + their first round pick for our 5th overall pick. I wonder if they're looking at something along those lines again.

Both franchises could fold this afternoon and almost no one in Florida would notice or care. (and no Canadian NHL fan would give a shit either) The people who would care deeply are players, coaches, managers, and agents. Fewer golfing opportunities, a couple fewer no tax cities in the league. But they could always just get relocated into markets that do give a shit, like Quebec City and Hartford. QC will never be low tax, let alone no tax, and no one will ever confuse downtown Hartford with South Beach, but people who live in those places actually care.

Says the asshole that doesn't live here. Tampa has good attendance and Florida's is growing.

Such a douche
