Draft of Draft Rules

Well that option is part of the discussion... but it's not the only option. That way really increases the last place team's odds... thus encouraging tanking even more, which is what we're looking to avoid.

One thing i am willing to do is this

1-8 as is

9-1
10-2
11-3
12-4
13-5
14-6

I say we go with the NHL route as is

if a team in the top 8 wins the lotto, that corresponding Fantrax team wins the lotto.

If 9-14 wins, then the draft order stays status quo.

And in 2016, i'll still be a bottom feeder, but very open and reasonable to change.

Don't like it. That's gives the bottom team an even greater chance at #1.

Teams have already tanked a tonne this year. Going forward, change it as much as you want. Changing the odds now is bullshit.

This seems like a possibility on the surface but we may want to run the numbers and see what it does to the odds. But a system like this will give the bottom teams an even bigger advantage.

But it is changing the odds... and giving the last place team an even bigger advantage than ever before.

It isn't. The agreement pre season was an 8 team lotto aligned with the NHL lotto process, therefore it is was implied that results outside the 8 would be disregarded.

To be honest making changes of any kind for such an important draft seems wrong enough...we've already allowed from 5 to 8

I SHOULD have a huge advantage.

I agree. You gave up significant assets to be in this position. You didn't ignore your team, put good players in the minors, etc. Changing the lotto now actually rewards the actual tankers that didn't play it honest.

I guess our definition of "changing" differs. Seems to me if we add teams 9-14 to the last place team's odds we'd be changing the previous set of rules to the advantage of a team who already has the greatest odds.

i was already ****ed over going from 5 teams that could get the pick to 8

trying to change this mid season is horseshit

Yeah, change was agreed upon when the vote to go with 8 lottery teams was concluded. It then became a matter of deciding the best way to handle the draft itself.

Changes were made in the offseason to the most important draft of our league, now those changes didnt work enough to people's liking so we're to amend further in season?

Give me a break.

There should absolutley be no simulator, or further amendments.

Frankly i should be well within my rights to go back to last year when only 5 teams had a shot at the pick, and the rest of the lotto could just move up.

Well should we not just do a lottery ourselves for the 1st overall with our own odds which has been suggested already? That way those 8 teams get a chance and worst comes to worst for Jonas is he ends up with the 2nd and 3rd overall picks.

Because it wasn't discussed in the offseason, or anytime until right now halfway trhough a current season

I made my trades based on the odds i thought i had at getting certain things. Changing the odds devalues my assets that i got in the trade as each pick was attached to a set chance of me getting McDavid

Again, we are already massivly altering the status quo by allowing 3 extra teams to potentially take McDavid from me, where in the past they would simply move up 4 spots. And for the record THAT change was made AFTER i MADE my trades.

The fact we are even discussing this is completely unfair to me.

To be clear, this will not affect my pick and I honestly do not care who wins (outside of myself of course, but again this 9-14 thing won't affect me) I just want it to be done fairly. And I have not suggested anything other than ensuring that the odds aren't changed in an unfair manner. Whether that's giving extra odds to team 1, 2, 3... 7 or 8.

It's already been altered enough to make it what is perceived as fair.

Even if there was a change to be suggested that would help me further it would be wrong, because we are in the middle of the season

Again, i have no problem addressing 2016, in the offseason, but this draft right now....ridiculous.

The rule in these leagues is if we don't nail down a rule change pre season, we don't change it at all. So if we didn't, it should be a 5 team lotto. If there is nothing documented with amount of teams and odds we should be using last year's rules.
