They’ve made clear changes to their system and maybe playing guys kerfoot marner and willy in the paint in the o zone (rather than cutting through lanes and attacking the net with speed for rebounds) isn’t getting the best out of them?

Especially when your d are mrna’ed against getting shots through.
 
Big mistake not shaking this team up after that catastrophe against the Habs.

Trading Marner was the obvious thing to do. Doing it now will be another catastrophe but they may have no choice. This team is in a death spiral.
 
Couldn't watch the whole thing. Anybody start a scrum? Or maybe just a uncalled for face wash? Or in too big of a hurry to get to Freddy's for the after party?

That's not the next logical step.

You trade an important piece that isn't part of the future, and add a strong forward who can reenergize the ranks.

Muzzin is far and away first choice for that. Do that first and see how things unfold.
 
I was thinking about "the system" earlier, it seems pretty clear that changes were made and they're struggling to adapt. It makes sense, it's just disheartening cause they're sooo bad right now.

It's definitely alarming, but still way too early to panic.

Carolina was way better than Toronto tonight, but Chicago's been the worst team in the league so far. But I would not bet a nickel on this team right now.

ya, that’s something I was saying tonight.
Mats was a clean player, but when he wasn’t going or you got under his skin he had no scruples about throwing an elbow or chopping a guy.

these guys are way too cool for that stuff.

You kinda nailed it with Naz being the heartbeat. Or at least the last bit of crazy we had. The irrational confidence, the ghetto throat slash gesture, fighting Thornton. Hell everytime he took a big hit you knew, on that exact same shift, he was going to try to absolutely steamroll someone.

We have nobody left. No competitors willing to stir it up to change the momentum.

Leafs have always been their best when they have gritty guys who can cut your heart out like Gary Roberts and Wendel Clark.

They gotta get a couple in here, without losing skill for the sake of grit.
 
Tkachuk would the ideal add but not at the expense of Marner ( they need to aim higher)

He has the right amount of shithead and skill but just needs to be put on a leash from time to time
 
The worst was when Super Line got schooled by 4th line.

What a mess. They were literally skating into each other by the end. Brodie/Muzz/Dermott are good for giving up an odd man rush a shift. They are getting out skated. And Fred was better than Campbell.

that was the response to Saturday’s ass kicking? Jeez.
 
Maybe Arizona loosened the dress code because they don't pay signing bonuses on time and offer 0 perks for playing with the team? It didn't cost them money doing it. These little fuckers whined about how tough it was wearing a suit.
