After a come from behind win against the Panthers, the Canes hit Motown to play the woeful Red Wings.

Could we see Fleury in for Gardiner? Please? Expect Reimer in goal.

Detroit is DFL in the league with 17 points in 25 games and a league low 7 wins. They're 3-5-2 in their last 10 and on a 3 game losing streak and a 5 game winless streak. They lost to the Devils in Newark last night, 5-1. Anthony Mantha has 12 goals and 23 points, Tyler Bertuzzi has 10 goals and 22 points. But Athanasiou and Filppula are the bottom 2 in the league in +/- and Chlolowski is tied for 6th worst. Jonathan Bernier played last night so expect Jimmy Howard in goal. Among qualifying goalies, he’s worst in GAA at 3.98 and 2nd worst in save % at .883. The Wings are last in both goals for and against per game. The PP and PK are both near the bottom.

The Wings played in NJ last night so no one has any kind of advantage in the back-to-back.

Once more I hope the Carolina hurricanes that show up can complete passes and not to the skates..

Go Svech!

Mantha went out in the first period last night so Filip Zadina was recalled from Grand Rapids. They’re also without dmen Green, DeKeyser and Daley.

Gardiner was actually decent last night, although he continues to look lost on the PP2 ... which is what he gets paid for, more or less. Still ... he didn't suck, which was a step forward. Either way, I'd like to see Fleury just to keep the kid from getting too stale. I'd think Reimer would get the nod tonight as well.

Reimer has been sharp so far, stopping Helm on a shorthanded breakaway and a couple other high danger chances. No score after 1.

Luostarinen really needs some time in the weight room. The instincts are there, he’s just not strong enough yet.

Reimer pitches a shutout, 22nd of his career. He only had to make 18 saves but there were a few tough chances.

correction: 19 saves

There are no pictures on the scorecard. You just gotta win the games you oughtta win. Etc.

Wings had 11 shots in the 1st period, 8 the rest of the game. Another lockdown defensive effort.

Reimer was 1st Star too.

Great effort. I don't care if they're playing a rebuilding team - it's never easy on a back-to-back, especially when it's the 3rd game in 4 days. Detroit is a fast team, but we controlled play for over 40 minutes and easily matched their speed.

Enjoy the two points and take off the work boots and enjoy a cold one! Solid blue collar effort tonight that deserves a 🍻

Continues to remind me of Wallmark that first year he got called up. He clearly knew what he was doing but kept getting tossed around like a rag doll. Louie is a bit more solid physically that Wallmark was, but he's got the same issue. He's ready for it mentally and skill wise, but he's just not quite there yet physically. The kid has the makings of a truly pesky defensive center though. He's already annoying.
