GDT: Leafs @ Canes 1/9 7:00

Canes better watch out...The Leafs are bound to come out with some fire after being humiliated in the 1st period.

Go Tampa bay. don't let it get to OT.

Edit: NO!!!! not that way. guess we stay in Playoff position but not to 3rd.

Great fun tonight with a no-drama performance. There were plenty of Leafs fans at the PNC, but you never heard a peep out of 'em! I wasn't sure if we were playing that great or they were playing that poorly, but I'll take it either way. Lots of good things - balanced scoring, 6 goals (first time this season?), SHG (league leader now?), 5-game winning streak (first time this season). Enjoy this for the next few hours and then put it all behind us.

One interesting thing - the Jumbotron showed a nice video about Tim Gleason and he got a very good ovation from the fans. Then we scored on him.

Yes, league leaders in shorties.

Khudobin wins his first 6 starts as a Cane. Thats never happened before either.

For once, the other team absolutely sucked (and in every possible aspect) and we didn't struggle to put them away. Khudobin is largely responsible for that IMO because Cam would have let in three leakers more and we would have lost confidence and gotten in a dogfight. JB is right, we need to get his name on the dotted line sooner than later.

Jordan was the player we traded for tonight. A beast, a monster, whatever you want to call it. His game's been heading in that direction, and it finally all came together. Hallelujah. And Skinner had an off night and still kept his goal-a-game streak alive. When you hot, you hot.

I'm most pleased that Boychuk played like an NHLer tonight. Not so much for the Canes but for him. Maybe he can still figure out a way to stick around in the show, somewhere.

P.S. We won the trade.

Jordan was a beast tonight, but I wonder if it has anything to do with Eric not being around which then frees him up to be a more vocal and active leader. He doesn't have to worry about showing up his big brother with effort! Nice to see and great game by the Canes.
