GDT - Roast duck for dinner | Leafs @ Ducks 10PM EST

Just some back luck. War-on-ice now tracks scoring chances, and the Leafs outchanced the Ducks 17-13 last night. So its not like they aren't creating scoring chances.

Also over the last 11 games their shooting percentage has dipped to 7% from over 11%. 11% is high, but they've been around 9-10% the last few years.

I'm not sure its a system adjustment as much as it is a dry spell. They haven't scored a goal in 8 periods. And they've only scored 27 goals in their last 13 games. So it doesn't seem to be system related.

It's not like flipping on a light switch....these games are a part of the process....unfortunately patience isn't very high in this city.
Nobody expected this team to completely change the way they play mid-season and experience immediate success. It's just frustrating that having to do this mid-season was completely avoidable and unnecessary, and that was obvious to everybody except Shanahan and the "what, me worry?" crowd around here.

Just to expand, the Leafs scoring chance for% under Horachuk is 53.6% which is good for 12th in the NHL over that span. Their scoring chance +/- is 9 (13th in NHL).

Their shooting percentage has been 6.0%, good for 23rd in the NHL.

So frustrating. We should have been going through these systemic growing pains in October not January. What a waste.

But the improvement is still clear on the ice, and I refuse to believe that we're suddenly not going to be able to score now that we're playing a good possession game.

That being said, I'm not too happy about how we responded after giving up the third goal. They had a couple of bursts in the second half but you could see their lack of belief in the comeback.

Another big test tonight. Let's see if they stick with the game plan.

Agreed. That's why I think it's pretty silly when people say it didn't hurt us/no big deal to have Randy back.

Also their PDO has been 94.9 with is 27th in the NHL over that span.

So they have been a slightly above average offensive team, with terrible puck luck.

Their Corsi has jumped up to 49.6% (19th in the NHL).

They have played like a middle of the pack team, not a 1-4 team.

The other thing to remember is that with a quality full line of Komo-Holland-Lupul out, our bottom six is fugly again.

Panik - smith - Clarkson
booth - Carrick - Bodie

Is an offensive wasteland.

This is when we should be calling up the likes of brown, Nylander, leivo as injury fill in, not Carrick and Bodie.
