Gord Downie Diagnosed With Terminal Brain Cancer

Ticketmaster is one step up on the douchebaggery list from an abusive factory farm, and one step down from Monsanto. I'm not a Hip fan, but if there was ever a tour to do business differently on, this was the one. Instead it seems to be turning into a massive cash grab.

Did the Hip even have a choice? Doesn't Ticketmaster have ironclad deals with pretty much every decent-sized venue?

Honestly, I wish they'd go back to the system of selling at least some of the tickets from a box office. Guys/gals would have lined up for days and nights for a crack at tickets, and not only that - but the opportunity to actually know in advance what seats are available.

Ticketmaster is basically a ticket-revenue machine - and works against the public in high demand events. Of course scalpers are going to try and figure out how to game the system. Imagine if scalpers had to pay people to actually stand in line?

That was an option (at least in Ottawa) but it seems available tickets went quickly.

I'd forgotten how many times I'd done that in my youth. It was fun.
Not for days, but definitely a day.

The band explained that guitarist Rob Baker nearly obtained two 300 level tickets at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg but was timed out as he fumbled with his credit card to complete the transaction.

“That was our only chance guys; I’m so sorry,” said a remorseful Baker to his fellow band members with his head down low.
