Habs select Cole Caufield 15th overall

Really happy with the pick. Getting a sniper with this elite skill set was unexpected.love his personality and drive. If we can surrounding him well with size, he could be a killer and will finally provide that shot we need from the face off circle.

I was beyond thrilled with the pick and after reading a bunch of stories, I think I'm somehow even more excited about it now.

I didn't like the size, but he grew on me (pun intended) within 30 minutes of the pick when I saw how excited he was to be in the organization. Sometimes you just need someone who can score, and he can.

I still think overall we are way too small to compete but damn, cut some of the other small guys for someone who is small and actually can score.

There’s a video of a Flyers draft party and the reaction to passing on CC is priceless

Watch some of his highlights, I haven’t seen too many players score goals like him.

You don't "sign" with an NCAA team. You get a scholarship usually and you go to school. Caufield can leave after 1 year if he wants, they are not required to stay the full 4 years.

Seems he doesn’t have to go at all. I asked because I read somewhere the Badgers published a statement that CC had agreed to play for them and attend school and that he had to honour that commitment.

I would think he has to honor that commitment if he intends on playing in the NCAA.

But if he doesn't intend on playing in the NCAA he's allowed to do as he pleases.

He has to honor the commitment if he plays in the NCAA, not if he makes the NHL.
