Habs trade PK Subban to Predators for Shea Weber

I still HATE this trade. I still HATE the flabs 'brain trust' for their milque toast uber honkey approach to hockey. **** them all. If in the unlikely event the Habs were to meet the Preds in the finals, I'm a Preds fan. In fact I love them.

Does that make me a 'predaphile?'

shit.
Hurricane Stinky just blew through.

On the flip side on a weekly basis I hear different players and coaches compliment Weber for a variety of aspects but rarely hear much about Subban.

But I also read lists where Weber is either ahead of Subban or on par.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd take Duncan Keith in my top 5 any day.

In fact, Keith is the main reason the Hawks have 3 Cups.....moreso than Toews-Kane-Hossa-Seabrook. Take out any of those players, and the Hawks ''maybe'' still win 1 cup.....but take out Keith, and they have ZERO cups

Not sure if this is posted already, but SportsNet did a ranking of the Top 20 D-men in the league.

Has Subban #3.

Since it's based on stats using a combination of defense and offence Weber not surprising wasn't on the list.

God, that's just as bad as saying Subban is not in the top 15 in the NHL. That list is awful, which is not surprising coming from Berkshire who would probably put Eller in his top 20 centers. Letang #19?? No Weber, Josi or Suter? Campbell at #8? Niskanen at #9? Etc.

Keith is always in my top 5, with Karlsson and Doughty.

That list is by no means perfect, but others post things to promote their agenda's, so I can too.

I am sure guys like Sal will (or has) post some obscure article that says the opposite.

Never been doing that - have only posted a couple of tweets from respected hockey journalists (Bobby Mac & Gord Miller), that's about it...

Awful based on what? There are a couple surprises but for the most part all the names you expect in the top 20 are there... even if a few are a little out of order compared to our expectations.

Mark Giordano as #2...great story, and a good Dman, but #2 in the league?

Letang 19th? Stralman 14th? Campbell 8th (in 2016)? Shattenkirk 6th?

No wonder it took Berkshire 6-yrs to finish a 3-yr degree at Concordia...

Berkshire is totally trying to push his agenda here

1st off the "definition" of defence seems to be lost on anyone who thinks that Karlsson is the "BEST" at it.

2nd, The metrics used to measure each guy are different.

And I will just pick a guy like Hedman as an example... Take a look at this:

http://dobberhockey.com/frozenpool_...93&compare[]=888&sent=go&games=2015-2016:R:99

Now tell me that Hedman is the #4 best D-man in the NHL and Weber IS NOT IN THE TOP 20 when:

Weber scores more
Weber gets more points
Weber produces more on the PP
Weber plays more PK time
Weber has more ice time
Weber has less giveaways
Weber has more hits (And less PIM's doing it!)
Weber blocks more shots
Weber takes more shots
Weber has almost double Hedmans shooting %

Fancy stats are fun. But it's ridiculous to ignore the forest for the trees.

I'd take Karlsson #1....his point production itself is worth the number 1 spot. And he's not as bad defensively as people say he is....

Keith and Doughty #2-3 (flip flop either way)

To quote myself : "Letang #19?? No Weber, Josi or Suter? Campbell at #8? Niskanen at #9? Etc."

Honestly I feel the Norris votes from the past 2 years are about the closest as to who the real top 20 are.
