Hey Nerds: Blockchain

Shit is just lining up to smash NVDA back to 2016, or worse, apparently.

GPU mining shitting the bed, a monstrous truck load of used GPU's about to hit the secondary market, new competition, flaccid demand for new GPU's.

I'm short NVDA, long GOOGL.

I'm stalking lotto calls in DISney and puts in BUDweiser

Struck out with DIS and BUD, but hit a grand salami with GOOGL calls. So, new highs for the trading folio.

I still believe in DIS long term. Bought calls that expire in 2020. At some point the street will value them as a recurring streaming content/theme park play.

I am patient.

I've liked Disney long term as well. Good content is a never ending ATM for a company if they do it right, and Disney will likely do it right. That they own massively popular content like Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, etc just makes it more powerful for them when they get their shit together on how to monetize it on the downstream end.

Hallelujah. My BUD puts have risen from the dead.

for some reason, there was a 24hr delay in acknowledging that earnings were shite. New 52 wk lows being printed right now.

If this is the catalyst we've been waiting for, it would be really weird.

Market is gonna market. The macro trend is our friend. We'll determine a specific catalyst in hindsight.

can't wait for the midterms

http://www.wweek.com/news/business/2018/05/12/u-s-rep-earl-blumenauer-says-cannabis-may-be-de-regulated-nationwide-within-four-years/

U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) believes the end of the battle to legalize marijuana across the United States is fewer than four years away.

"I made a bet that within five years, every state will be able to treat cannabis like alcohol and there will be universal access to medical marijuana," he told a crowd of cannabis business owners at Cultivation Classic in Revolution Hall Saturday afternoon. "If we do our job, it's game over in 2 years."

Blumenauer, a longtime champion of legal weed, said the 2018 elections could be pivotal to removing cannabis from the federal list of Schedule 1 narcotics, like heroin and methamphetamine.

"If Democrats control the House of Representatives in the first months of the next Congress in 2019," said Blumenauer, "we will be having hearings on de-scheduling."

A ruling in a U.S. Supreme Court case about sports gambling on Monday has positive implications for marijuana legalization.

The case, Murphy v. NCAA, centered on whether the Constitution’s anti-commandeering doctrine prevents the federal government from forcing states to keep prohibitions of certain federally banned activities on their own lawbooks.

Specifically at issue was whether a New Jersey ballot measure that legalized betting on sports and subsequent actions by state legislators are invalidated by a congressionally approved law banning states and local governments from licensing or otherwise authorizing gambling on team sports.

The Supreme Court voted 7-2 on Monday to overturn the federal gambling prohibition.

If the justices had ruled the other way, state marijuana laws could have been in greater jeopardy of federal intervention.

Some of my pot stocks have solid looking charts: CRZ, IAN, THCX. Will be looking to add to my positions.

IAN just took a semi dodgy looking bit of financing at a discount to their current share value, might want to wait on them. Market didn't punish them for it today though, so who knows if they will at all. Should definitely be some selling pressure when those shares go live in 4 months. CRZ definitely has some headroom to run into before they test ATH's though, agreed. I'm watching that 5.26 level of THCX...if they test that and break through, could definitely run to 6.00 in a hurry.

IAN financing didn't look that bad to me.

Stock up 4% today because NY State Dems plan to pass a resolution next week to endorse the legalization of marijuana (according to NY Post)

IAN owns one of ten vertically integrated medical marijuana licenses in New York State.

BTW, I didn't pay attention to the daily swing, but IAN was punished this morning and was down 8% before the market said "f uck it, too many catalysts lining up in NY"

Okay...that makes sense, because the details of the finance deal kind of deserve to be punished.

-of the 50 million, 20ish is going straight to debt, so only 30 goes for capex
-13% coupon on the notes
-40m worth of the notes are exchangeable at 3.06USD per share, with 1:1 warrants at 3.60USD per share
-The remaining 10m worth of notes are exchangeable at 2.57 USD per share with 1:1 warrants at 3.86

Almost everything in the deal is already heavily in the money. Shit, that second tranche at 2.57 is already in the money by about a 1.50 a share. That's a pretty significant discount, which suggests to me that their debt financing costs was kicking the shit out of their bottom line badly.

Don't get me wrong, I still think they're a fantastic play and have the right idea in general, but their plans are capital intensive, and this almost seems like a bit of a panic move to get access to it.

GENE got a license ah on Friday. I own it but it bugs me that they changed their symbol and hired Gene Simmons. I don't think "aging rocker" is a good brand for the present cannabis revolution. Still, I'll hold my nose as it's trending up (along with many other names) TNY still in the penalty box.

Chris Parry wrote a pretty scathing blog post on Namaste yesterday that's probably a must read. Probably an excellent shorting opportunity. It's nice to see some of the industry moving in the right direction though, hopefully this will bring some broader momentum into the industry.

I agree regarding GENE. Yeah, tie yourself to a fossil who was anti drug for decades. What a horseshit gimmick (worse than newstrike doing the HIP thing imo). The Canadian industry is really starting to roll into that period of it's adolescence where poorly managed companies are going to start failing. A celebrity endorsement was cool 24 months ago, but today no so much.

and yeah TNY has been quiet as a mother****er. No volume man, like 60-100K traded on most days. It's not for lack of awareness either. I think money is on the sidelines waiting to see them execute and get full runs of product on shelves. Just hired more good execs though, and still keeping it's head above the 200 day sma. Trades so tight though, could easily blast up to 1.00 with a bit of good news.

Yeah, Parry has been dissing N for ages. I never owned it.

As for TNY, for sure it could take off quickly. Right now, it's just a concept stock until they can prove they can make THC infused drinks that go down easy.

I recently tried Hemplify. Not impress. Tastes like a bunch of other overpriced, sugary drinks out there. I was never in the stock for Hemplify, but I expected something better given their Cott pedigree.

Someone will master the THC drink -- hope it's TNY.
