Hey Nerds: Blockchain

I feel like I wish they didn't do their stock split. Yeah, each $400 share becoming four $100 shares creates 4x bigger upwards movements, but also works the other way too, and every bad day is going to feel a whole lot worse. I suppose the only reason to do the split is to get the price to not look so daunting and attract more buyers in, but Amazon doesn't seem to have a problem with their price. I thought the stock split era was over, but they might be ushering in a new wave. I wonder if Amazon would follow suit.

No idea.
If you notice, big ticket tickers like AMZN, GOOGL are not included in the DOW 30, because that index is (stupidly) weighted by share price instead of market cap.

Other than that, it doesn't matter because new brokers like Robinhood (and others are following) are allowing anyone to buy fractional shares.

Your contra indicator may be right!

except he got bearish today, so I unloaded 95% of the puts I had left. He's not making it easy to fade him.

hard to believe, but AMZN and GOOGL were higher 2 weeks ago than they are right now after hours

Yup. Tech is the undisputed champ going forward. Covid sped up their coronation ceremony. But it's still mindboggling that with so many companies going bust, so many people unemployed, so many apparently short on cash, that somehow more people are buying phones and spending money on ads. Where is the extra money flowing in from if it dried up in those other segments of the population?

stimulus is keeping things afloat -- also, I read somewhere that about 15% of Americans are making more $$ now than at their shit job. goes to show you how ridiculous the minimum wage is in some states

Well yeah, it's that extra $600 over and above what they would have normally made. But I can't believe that that $600 is what's driving these companies to the stratosphere.

it's helping AMZN (shop from home without a mask) and FB, GOOG (more time to kill).

Like I said earlier, Apple is also benefiting from bigger middle class in China and India. I bet you China is responsible for most of the bump in their phone/mac/tablet sales

The economy can sure as fuck adapt to any situation it throws at it thanks to human innovation.

SPX to 4000!

I wholeheartedly agree. Incremental international growth must be having a big impact. I thought they reported sources of revenues, no? Maybe only voluntarily, I don't know.

I still think though, in spite of all that, when globally everything has on the surface trended downwards to LESS (employment, spending, GDP), how these companies managed to make billions MORE, is just staggering. Cannot compute. Critical error. Systems overload.

I still would've preferred more consolidation (it could have used a lot more tbh) but it didn't have to. When a name is hot it's hot.

me too, but that's because we're human.

computer algos don't need time to consolidate

My Friday just got amazing as my Pinterest crushed earnings this am.

Naturally, I'm a bit ticked off at myself for not also playing calls -- they were pretty cheap. But I was worried because they strangely moved their earnings to Friday am. I have to stop over thinking.
