Hey Nerds: Blockchain

I own ROKU. Nice looking chart. Let's see if this news keeps the momo going.

So uhhh...sell the news again?

Hard to say. Trump tariff talk hitting the market hard overnight (NAZ futures -1.1%) But ROKU doesn't always correlate with the market all that much. I could see it having a green day even with market down 1%. I sold 1/2 my ROKU calls today -- was aiming to ride the rest 'till 49.50

I was joking about the HoC vote to send C-45 back to the Senate and tell them to **** their amendments, pass what we tell you to pass.

By the time this is over there will have been a half dozen separate days when I read "Canada has legalized weed" headlines.

got it.

as for pot, I don't think sell the news will be violent (if at all)

1) there are a ton of shorts that piled on in February-May that will need to cover their positions at some point
2) the news flow out of the US has been a positive and steady trickle. Big investors down south are feeling more comfortable. My best performer has been IAN -- zero correlation to Canada. But I think for once, developments in both countries are mutually beneficial from a sentiment viewpoint. Besides, Sessions is too busy justifying child separation with biblical quotes.

BTW, Chinese markets are down 3-4% tonight. Fresh 2 yr lows.

MolsonCoors (TAP) rumoured to be looking at buying a weed company. Which one?

I bought some lotto calls (strike price 69.5) for .05 that expire today. Max loss $75.

From Bloomberg:

Molson Coors has spent the past six months engaged with as many as four separate cannabis companies, including Aphria Inc. () and Aurora Cannabis Inc. (), discussing its plans to enter the marijuana space and the discussions are said to be serious, the sources said. A deal could be announced before the end of the year, one of the sources said.

Furthermore, a report released by Cowan & Co. in April said cannabis and alcohol are substitute social lubricants. The report said that binge drinking behaviours – described as consuming at least seven drinks per sitting – accounts for 17 per cent of the U.S. population, but is set to fall as the legalization of recreational marijuana usage widens in North America.

“Our analysis found that adult-use cannabis states also have consumers that report meaningfully lower quantities of alcohol consumed per binge drinking session, relative to medical and non-cannabis states,” said Vivien Azer, a senior analyst covering beverage and tobacco companies at Cowen & Co., who authored the report.

The US dispensary plays like LHS and MPX are having great days on heavy volume today.

Very interesting/positive statement from the FDA on cannabis as medicine.

Statement by FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, M.D., on the importance of conducting proper research to prove safe and effective medical uses for the active chemicals in marijuana and its components.

Proponents of “medical marijuana” advertised its uses for a wide number of medical conditions, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety – just to name a few of the touted conditions. The FDA has been supportive of research in this area for many years. But marijuana is a Schedule I compound with known risks. Research to demonstrate that marijuana or its components could be safe and effective in the treatment of medical disorders should be held to the same standard as other drug compounds. And certainly it should not be held to a lower standard, as some proponents would suggest. The FDA has an active program to assist drug developers who want to investigate marijuana or its components through properly controlled clinical trials, to demonstrate the potential for safe and effective uses.

Being a chemist I like to survey the job market that hires people in my field. I must say not impressed with Canopy Growth as an employer. Just read the reviews , this company is not right in the head. And they are opening so, so many facilities , any postal code east of Manitoba must be a Canopy operation or lab or office.

Do you have any examples of reviews that are from the easy to find stuff on glass door and indeed?

Just curious.

****ing Canopy.

Bloodbath today, all because Canopy's quarterly sucked.

Their report showed lots of inventory. Plus the pot bears are waving their arms about outdoor growing screwing the bottom line. I ain't worried.

The glassdoor reviews seem to be better lately. There was one review form a lab technician in Scarborough who compained of harassment, inappropriate touching etc.. but that review was removed it seems. Another review from Smith Falls about managment making inappropriate jokes...

Who really knows what is truth, but there seem to be a lot of red flags. I suppose the growing pains of a company expanding too fast, need better corporate policies.

If I was an employee, this is probably the cannabis company I would target.

They seem to be doing things the right way. Compliance will be key when the Health Canada inspectors come knocking on the door.
