[Injury News] Frederik Andersen possible concussion?

Maybe not a dummy but there is some questionable decisions that go through his head sometimes.

blech. Kapanen just an extra in practice, Smith still on 4th line.

The 4th line is a legit line with Boyle now. They play 10+ minutes a game.

Plus as others have mentioned, Kap kills penalties in the AHL.

Not like he'd be playing 5 mins a game.

I don't buy it ... why recall Kap just to be 'extra' in practice? I'm sure they have some kind of plan to start him

Man...I at least get his infatuation with guys like Martin, Soshnikov, Polak & Hunwick.

But Smith is not an NHL-calibre player. Period. Not even close. He single-handedly kills what has been a really solid 4th line.

McElhinney is officially getting the start against Florida tomorrow.

No word yet on if it'll be Andersen or Sparks backing him up.

Leafs coach Mike Babcock on Andersen: "it doesn't appear to be long, obviously that's great"

Kapanen will play tomorrow ... Babcock said he would've been up sooner if not for injury

.901 since the trade and some ugly outings recently. Going to need a some score board luck tonight and a big game from him tomorrow.

Yeah, he's a bit scary. He was junk against the Sabres, but then settled in and played very well against the Devils after that putrid first goal.

Hopefully we should be able to fire enough pucks past Jimmy Reimer or Reto Berra tomorrow night that McElhinney won't factor in either way.

McElhinney hasn't been good, but he has been 'better' in games where he started instead of coming off relief.

Since the pickup on Jan 10, McElhinney has played in 10 games for the Leafs. 7 of them are starts, in which he posted .940. 3 are relief, and he posted .828.

So he has been pretty decent in starts, and his 3 most recent starts include Mar 23 vs NJD (W, .938), vs ANA (L, .886) and vs CAR (a shutout win)

Let's see what he can do tomorrow.

No complaints about Mc really. Given us a chance to win pretty much every game he's started, that's about all you can ask.

Sparks inspires no confidence.

But thank goodness Freddy doesn't seem to have a major injury. That would have been pretty devastating.

Looks like Freddie is once again working out alone with goalie coach Steve Briere ahead of Leaf practice at 10:30.

I'm guessing that means we have a McE / Sparks tandem tonight...
Yep, that's been confirmed. McElhinney will start, and Sparks will back up.

On the good news front, Andersen took part in the full Leaf practice after his solo session with the Leaf goalie coach.

And Andersen isn't ruling out the possibility that he starts on Thursday.

Hopefully this will be the final update on this thread.

Freddie participated in an optional skate this morning, and has declared that he's ready to go against Nashville tomorrow.
