If he's going to dump Muller, my guess is that it's Ulf Samuelsson. But that puts us in much the same position we're in now; a career assistant with no head coaching experience. Muller had 1 year at a college in Canada, but that really doesn't count. And there is no way, none at all, that Maurice comes back as coach. That would be confirmation that Francis really isn't running the show.

That is among the many unknown variables that make this particular off-season one that I will not be able to follow my usual custom of buying a pig-in-a-poke by re-upping my STH tickets during the early renewal period.
Not this year. This year the org is going to have to go first. I want to see just which direction we're going here before committing to that particular brand of entertainment.
And Mo 3.0 isn't what I call entertainment. T'ain't funny, McGhee.
Also, are we tripling down on the Staal brothers, trading Skinner to the Rangers for Marc? If so, one-third of our salary budget will be going to someone whose last name is Staal. Not sure I can stand to finance even a portion of that madness.
And just who is going to be coach, Ronnie? If that is even your task to choose, Ronnie. So many unknowns.
Still hoping for two mega-trades, freeing up a bunch of money that can be re-purposed into a credible bottom-six and maybe another D-man. And, by the secondary STH decision deadline in late July, I'll know far, far more than I do now.

I don't see RF as necessarily replacing Muller right away. Kirk has another year on his contract and may well get another season - IF they make the major moves over the summer: Eric and Ward traded away and a few more cleaned up - Dvorak, Bowman mainly, Nash maybe but he has been playing better lately and may be growing in the role (?).
I have several contacts in the .org but I'm hearing more from a long-time friend who isn't but who has very strong contacts, including being a close to RF. He has the same concerns that I/we and others hers have that Ron is just too close and is likely to be more of the same. Not that JR would dictate how the job is to be done, he hasn't done that with coaching... But that all these guys are part of the old boys network within. He is of the opinion that RF's choice to replace Muller (IF....) would be Ulf Samuelsson. He and I both share the feeling that could be another JR/MO situation - Mo was kept on long past his usefulness and Ron & Ulf are such close friends that it would take some serious issues for Ronnie to fire his friend. Maybe lasting for several stinkfest seasons. Ulf has no head coaching experience (he's an asst. with the Rangers now and has been with several orgs) and is an unknown as a head coach.
Frankly, I think the main problems with the Canes are at the feet and heart and mind of #12. I don't understand it but think maybe Eric just doesn't how to be a real leader - nor does his on ice efforts give us any warm fuzzies. He seems content to collect his $9.25 Mil and rest on past laurels and accrue a modest (vis-a-vis his $$$$) amount of (secondary assist) points without being the stud and beast he is paid to be.

Well, after a lot of gut wrenching contemplation and bellyaching..... I went ahead and re-upped for next year. Why? Hell, I don't know, but something about the game and the fans just keeps sucking me and my wallet back in. Heck, even with JB and LJG's battering on my alma mater (although "suck on it huckleberry" maybe we laugh out loud"), just something nice about hanging on this board as well. But if they suck like this next year ......... :beatdeadhorse5:

He also makes the snarky comment that the Canes might look to buy everyone out.... Not that John-Michael Liles is worth the remaining to years of his contract ($4.25 million next year, $2.75 million the year after that), but the Canes can ill afford to continue to pile up dead money and really the Canes don't have better blueline options.

One PP goal (our third goal), and he was the primary assist for the first two goals. It was his shot that ricocheted off Eric's skate or something, went high in the air, and fell into the goal for the first goal, and his pass that Faulk one-timed for the first power play goal.
So, yes he was a big part of our first three goals.
