Leafs acquire Jack Campbell and Kyle Clifford

The third rounder becomes a 2nd if we resign Clifford or if Campbell hits a certain amount of wins. LA gets a third regardless.

That conditional third in ‘21 becomes a 2nd RD pick if either Clifford re-signs with the Leafs OR Campbell wins a certain amount of games .... Kings are guaranteed at least the 3rd Rd pick if neither of those conditions are met

Okay don't re-sign Clifford.

That conditional third round pick in ‘21 has to do with whether or not Clifford re-signs with Toronto and a number of wins by Campbell.... so two conditions attached to that pick.

Alright...this trade is moving from over pay to sneaky smart for me.

Campbell looks better than his .900 this season, Clifford-Spezza-Whatever is a hell of a 4th line, Moore was a nice piece that was never going to get a chance here and was struggling with the lack of opportunity and only the one guaranteed 3rd. Campbell might legit be the answer as our backup for 2 more seasons too.

Fuck, I was hoping it was a 3rd or nada.

Okay, less sneaky smart now. Still not mad though. Clifford is the right kind of good veteran, Campbell might actually be the answer as our backup.

A Dubas 2nd is equivalent to a mid round 1st. Would hate to give that up for a backup goalie (who may suck) and expiring fourth liner.

Official condition: Condition on the 2021 pick is it can move up to Leafs’ 2nd round pick if they re-sign Clifford or if they make the playoffs and Campbell wins 6 regular season games.

Bonus: hailing from Ayr, Ontario, and playing for Barrie, Clifford's almost certainly a leafs fan.

Hope so. He also wouldn't be the first guy to have a random high level first 30-40 games in the NHL and then fade to obscurity. Crapshoot really. And I don't trust nerd shit with goaltending so I'm not going to say Kyle has much more insight than us.

What Zeke pointed out earlier seems to be bang on. Campbell's PK numbers are dragging down his overall numbers. His 5 on 5 SV% is in line with some pretty decent goalies, especially over the last 2 years

Goalies with 1000 minutes played 5 on 5, last 2 years combined

Campbell: .926 (16th)
Freddy: .925 (19th)
Hutch: .897 (63rd of 64)

Reiterate the key that Quick is also having a similarly disastrous year on the PK, so there's a decent chance that it's a team thing.

So even if he's legit shit at stopping shots on the PK. We take the 2nd least penalties in the league, and when we do, we give up the fewest chances in the league on the PK.

The nerd is sneaky.

Even if it's not, and he's just bad on the PK (his 5v5 HDSV% is bad...not disaster bad, but bad)...my post above man. We take fewer penalties than anyone and limit chances on those PK's better than anyone.

But how is quicks 5 on 5 sv%? Could that not just be boosted by a lack of high danger chances against by the kings?
