Leafs/Habs/Sens 2014-15

And last year he went to the ecf. Dud or not you simply can't give a rookie coach the edge. It's silly.

Presumptively giving Therrien the edge because the other dude is a rookie seems a little silly. There's no rule in hockey that the more experienced playoff coach will always outmatch the rookie/less experienced one.

This is especially ironic given your loathing of Therrien.

And I do loathe Therrien's style, greatly, but you can't say he doesn't have experience. Giving the edge to Cameron is laughable. Let's see who ends up coaching more career games, if Cameron is so good he should be around for at least a decade right?

And Hammond's insane numbers. We're talking about numbers better than Price. Question is could he sustain it for a season like Price.

We didn't say Therrien doesn't have experience. Just said coaching is more about having been there.

Pat Quinn wasn't as tactical as Jacques Martin, but year in and year out he got the most of his players.

The answer is no. He couldn't. .941% just isn't done in the modern NHL.

But we don't need him to go 20-1-2. We just need him to win 4 games out of 7 at a time.

Edit: We also gave Price the edge without issue. What are you arguing about?

Nobody is denying Therrien's experience. And I'd happily concede that on its face it gives him an advantage. Just taking issue with you giving Montreal the coaching advantage solely on that basis.

And yeah, I think everyone expects the Hamburgling to stop eventually. Or at least slow.

Price getting the edge in spite of his regular season and playoff numbers vs the Sens?

Could happen I guess, but the track record says otherwise.

Price gets the edge because he was the best goalie in hockey this year, dum dum

Hammond's a career minor leaguer who has gone on an unprecedented, historic, and unsustainable run.

Both true facts, but against Ottawa Price is a below average goalie and Hammond is still on fire (including beating the Habs twice)

I could easily see Hammond falling back to earth and Price getting hot against the Sens, but until the trends reverse, the Sens have the edge in nets.

Just can't get behind that. I'll give the Habs the edge with an * at best.

You are right, Price does suck against us, but he's still the best tender playing right now.

Price wasn't simply the best goaltender in hockey this past season, he was the best player. Period. He's going to win the MVP, Vezina, and be a First Team All-Star.

There's no way Ottawa has the edge over Montreal between the pipes.

So, the Habs have the best goalie on the planet right now, who as Jays mentioned, is in contention for multiple NHL awards...and the Sens have a 27 year-old goalie that was posting a sub .900 SV% in the AHL for most of this year...and the Sens have the edge over Montreal in net?

This is why nobody takes SENSi seriously.

Sens have the edge in coaching. I don't care if Cameron is a rookie... Therrien is a dolt. We need to win in spite of him.

Price is the best goalie in the world right now...

He also plays like crap vs the Sens, both this season and in previous playoffs.

Hammond is a career minor leaguer. He also is on fire for the past 25 games and posted a .940 2.00 vs the Habs.

If those trends reverse, then the Habs have an edge in goal (with the reminder that Habs killer Anderson is waiting in the wings).

Until they do, the Sens have the edge in nets.

Well there is that... what... 2 game same size vs Ottawa this season.

I love how much faith SENSi puts on the 2 game sample size of Price this year against the Sens, instead of looking at his record over the full 66 games he actually played on the season. Then he goes back to Price sucking in the playoffs when we met 2 years ago, while ignoring the fact that that season in the 3 regular season games he posted a 1.58 GAA and .944 save pct.

Both Habs and Sens did very well when given .930-.940 calibre goaltending, but if you have to bet on either of the teams getting that in the playoffs, who do you think makes more sense to put your money on?
