He is what he is and not needed when this team is good

10 minutes on a bottom 6 role at best , would rather have a kid with size to score 10 goals

Had his dream for a few weeks with Suzuki playing 15-20 minutes with PP time

Yeah now that I know that was year 4 it's quite the talk out of ass analysis by Pierre.

He may have covid eligibility though. Not sure. I'm betting Pierre had verbal diarrhea.
 
I think two things can be true: RHP is on the team right now because half the team is injured.

But he's also played exceptionally well during his time here and has given himself the inside track towards making the team next Fall, whether that's as the 3rd/4th line winger or as 13th forward.

The same can said of Alex Belzile. Compare how Harvey-Pinard & Belzile have played compared to Ylonen. Those two are playing every night like it's life or death and that their careers are on the line. Ylonen plays like it's just another game.

All three of them need new contracts for next season. Harvey-Pinard and Belzile have earned themselves one-way deals, in my opinion. That's not to say they're shoe-ins for the NHL, but players who manage to make it from the AHL into the NHL deserve some recognition and some reward. Ylonen's done and over with for me, honestly. Not even sure I give him something beyond a two-way contract.

Sometimes people just need an opportunity. Most of the time, the vast majority of the time actually, players like Belzile who have spent a full decade in the minors flame out. But every now and again, you have a Derek Ryan, a guy that spent all of his 20s in Canadian universities, Europe, the minors, and Carolina gave him a chance. He played his first NHL game at the age of 29 and 6 years later, he's nearing 500 total games played.

But even if Belzile goes straight back to Laval next year, it doesn't matter. You need to show to everyone, both inside and outside the organization, that people get rewarded for their play. That's another way to attract people to an organization.
 
I’m a little less sold on Belzile, but he’s earned his shot.

I’d give Ylonen one more look, but make it clear it’s his last chance.
