Recent Athletic writeup of Perreault, our newest prospect. Seems like a worthy attempt to inject a little offensive talent to our pipeline
>>His natural skill will flash in spurts but some of his on-ice habits have at times drawn questions. Perreault’s hands and shot are both high-end and make him dangerous both with the puck on his stick inside the offensive zone and off the puck as a pass option who can quickly finish off catches. When he keeps his feet moving, stays involved in the play, finishes his checks and then works to get back open so that his skill can take over, he’s an exciting player to watch because of his ability to make something out of nothing and cleanly beat goalies from a standstill. He can overpower a goalie with a wrist shot that spins and pops off of his blade or just pick his spot in the net and score from a bad angle. And while he can also still leave you wanting more, I think he’d made progress there this season pre-injury.
I still think he’s got upside as a secondary complementary scorer/PP2 upside with the right coaching and opportunity. Continued patience could pay dividends here. He has made progress to round out his game and find a more consistent level. You have to hope he can stay healthy and build on that. I did debate slotting him lower here, though.
