OT: American Politics

Stacked lineup for the Dems. I almost feel bad for the 2016 nominee who will have to follow speeches from Clinton and Obama at the DNC.

Praise the Lord, Allah, Buddah, Vishnu, the Sun and Moon, Mars and Jupiter, and last but not least Andromeda. So long Jimmy.

You know it's going shitty for you when every second word out of your piehole is your opponents name. That guy is an extreme stuffy 1 percenter.

Yes but now they can be sure everyone in that arena is voting Democrat because that was up for grabs I think.

This thread is clear proof I could never live in Toronto. Dear lord.

Yet, Stephen Harper sounds like your type of conservative. Fiscally responsible without being a hillbilly on social issues.

I hate duplicity and hypocrisy and this thread is rife with it, as is the world.

I told you guys I was a misanthrope long ago, did you think I was kidding?

I will end up in the mountains, already own the land.

I don't know, the system in America is very rigged for the two party system. It is tough, I know. I can understand why you'd feel that way. It is a shame.

And its amazing to me that in Canada we are dwindling down our parties and choices, while I do think America is ripe for a third party. A centrist party. Socially Liberal and Economically Conservative.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Actually, looks like the NDP takes K/W pretty convincingly. It's all good though, as long as our twerp of a Premier's attempt to bribe his way back into a majority government fails, I'm a happy camper.

Wolfie is pissed as he and the Tories campaigned pretty heavily in KW. With that said, the Dippers did the province a big favour by winning instead.

I despise McGinity and have not voted for him since his first election.

Will never forget his first day in office when he admitted and said, I cannot keep any of my campaign pormises since the Tories left us with a bigger than expected financial mess. We all knew we had a mess going into it, he was given access prior to the election as was all the other candidates to see the budget. Will never forgive or forget that.

He is a complete twerp.

So how does Obama stand up to an AP fact check after all the applause dies down?

and my fave quote of his....

“You didn’t elect me to tell you what you wanted to hear,” he said. “You elected me to tell you the truth.” :thumbsup(22):

FACT CHECK: Obama and the Phantom Peace dividend

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama laid claim to a peace dividend that doesn't exist when he told the nation he wants to use money saved by ending wars to build highways, schools and bridges.

The wars were largely financed by borrowing, so there is no ready pile of cash to be diverted to anything else.

The claim was one of several by Obama in his acceptance speech Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., and by Vice President Joe Biden in earlier remarks that did not match the facts. A look at some of their assertions:

Common ground....who knew?

I disliked McStupid the very second he said he was going to sign a pledge. It sounded so fish and as it turned out, he is the master of fishy. I dislike and even despise some of obama's politics but I have nothing against him. I despise Muclares politics and tactics, but have nothing against him. On the other hand, McStupid has that politician two face weasel stench that goes past his politics. Man to man, I wouldn't shake his hand.

I'm not sure why Tories didn't win at least one seat and I don't like it. Given what McStupid has done to Ontario, they should have won with a cardboard cutout in both riding and yet......they are a distant second and they lose to Dippers in KW?

Talking about cardboard....Hudak is not giving me the slightest bit of confidence that he will lead us to a PC government. Right now, there is no chance of PC minority, never mind a majority.

So we spin and rot in a Liberal/NDP morass for the foreseeable future.....
