OT: American Politics

Cumulus parting company with Limbaugh and Hannity isn't that big a deal. Limbaugh's show is the #1 talk radio show in the US and broadcast on over 600 stations, Hannity is on 500 plus stations. Cumulus represents 40 radio stations which will be supplanted by their competitors.

Both Limbaugh and Hannity will one day be eulogized, but not today.

Just watched the video. Seemed to me like it was one cop...the fat one...that fired all, or almost all of the shots. The others were kind of standing around. Didn't seem like a situation that required deadly force, unless the dead knife guy was starting to charge out of the streetcar. But the number of cops standing around calmly while the shooter was shooting, leads me to believe he jumped the gun(pun intended).

Maybe the dead guy ****ed his daughter?

As for the everyone calling this guy a kid...18 years old is an adult. Enough with making this worse than it is.

I'm a cop. Won't comment on incident but as far as our soft body armour is concerned they are not designed to stop knives.

Well to be fair, 18 is still a kid maturity-wise. I don't think anyone would argue that fact. One can be legally an adult and in other circumstances, but we're still talking about a university freshman age here, and that's certainly a child in terms of emotional maturity for the most part.

I still think he was foolish to be branding a weapon against armed police officers though.

One of the greatest indicators of just how crazy Muricans are in general. And for the record, it used to be more than 600 stations. Some have already jumped ship.

The difficulty is two-fold. Few can compete with Cumulus, and even fewer would likely want to be associated with a blowhard that regularly berates women and talks nothing but anti-GOP conspiracy all day long. His ship is sinking. We can argue how fast it's sinking, but it's sinking nonetheless.

Im at a minor scene right now and asked the question. He answered but asked me not to post it. Its understandable why. Felt foolish asking it.

We're sorta lucky this didn't happen in the US. Because in the US, that kid wouldn't have had a knife, he would have had a gun.

I don't think the police handled this very well. How much training do police officers actually get? Isn't it just a few months?

That's just the policy academy. They're with a training officer for a year to two years.

Foolish? Sure. But he posed no imminent threat to anyones life. They are trained for this....and not nine rounds later.

Im for law and order as much as you or anyone. What underlays this is the use of imminent threat and deadly force. Its the reason why i dont like carry even though im a pro gun advocate.

This shooting stinks. I really hope that there is a lot more behind the threat assessment and use of above and beyond deadly force then a knife.

He posed a threat to his OWN life, and if you truly knew any cops, you'd know that's grounds for them to use guns to stop him.
And no, that doesn't mean nine rounds. But shooting a despondent person to stop them from hurting or killing themselves is actually acceptable to most police departments.
Obviously, in this case, the nine rounds proves they went overboard.

Even one round was overboard. This wasnt a suprise attack, no ones life was at risk, they had massive redundant deadly force aimed at him, the video showed no charging. Cripes, this looked more like a third world cop execution then anything else.

There will be no tag days for either conservative talk-show radio hosts, as rival stations are expected to pick up the hosts in those respective markets. For example, in New York City, another radio station would pick up the pair. The show might be picked up by competing regional radio stations in other markets like Washington, Chicago, Dallas and other major markets.

Also, while 40 Cumulus stations would drop the show, but Limbaugh is syndicated on more than 600 stations and Hannity on more than 500.

He would only say not to post it if a knife attack would harm him. If it wouldn't he would be fine with it being posted.
