Delicious.
Your insecurity is showing Canuck.
Canada can’t pay 2% anyway. They should just admit it. Why pay to protect yourself? Money better spent on social entitlements. I know the mentality up there. It’s amazing just how you deluded yourselves into thinking you’re actually doing your share in protecting yourselves when the entire world, entirely, knows you’re protected by your bigger cousin to the south. Just get over yourself, admit it and move on.
You just don't like the tables turned yank.
When it's America not spending what they said they would, not meeting their international obligations, you suddenly turn it to a oranges to apples situation, when it is not.
In both cases, our countries said that they would spend a certain percent of GDP (or GNI) to fulfill international obligations, and while Canada doesn't meet theirs for defense, America is a laggard in terms of foreign aid. While I will be first to admit that canada is a laggard on defense, you still cannot bring yourself to admit that your country spends a paltry 0.19 out of the promised 0.7 percent of GNI on foreign aid, and is a freeloader in that department. You fall back on, but we give the most in actual dollars, which is not counting how big the US economy is. The only comparable to the US economy is the European economy, and they outspend the US by a 3-1 ratio.
So don't talk to me about insecurity, you can't even admit your nations own failings while you try to criticize others.
As for the 2 percent of GDP, I have a excellent suggestion. We, in canada, need to draft every canadian citizen over the age of 65 into our military, and since pension costs count towards defense spending, we could count the pension contributions given to every canadian over the age of 65 as defense spending.
There, 2 percent. I hope trump would be happy with that. It's pretty much what Greece does to reach 2 percent, you don't hear trump bitching about them.
