Personally I get joy when one less evil person exists in the world in the same way I felt joy when Osama was killed. I don't think it's different just because it's some old white dude. Evil is evil. It doesn't discriminate based on race.

The way I see it is anyone that is willing to vacate their own morality will not use morality in governing. If anyone in power is quick to do so they shouldn’t be in power.

Joy or relief?

I was relieved when Osama was killed and remembered the thousands he helped kill. I can’t say I was full of joy. Seriously.

I’m dead serious in saying this but I have 2 autistic nephews. They never checked for that when and where I was born. I don’t understand people often. Maybe I should have myself checked because contrary to what the Pinko believes, I truly don’t get it. I don’t get humans wishing ill on each other.

Well, voting against them is a hell of a start. Vote against them at all levels. If they try to hijack elections, take to the streets.

I have not voted GOP since 2000. What is the expectation here? Pointing out that it’s a very slippery slope and people like zeke and Trump make it more slippery?
Do you think I’d be comfortable with someone like zeke in power as well?

And then I wish ill will on them too. It's a vicious cycle. But regardless, seeing bad things happen to bad people gives me joy. We're wired differently I guess. Perhaps I just care more. It doesn't matter though. You do you.

It will depends on his VP. I don’t think he’ll make it a full term. I think the plan is to beat trump then retire a year in or so.

Then don't try to understand on an emotional level. Understand it on pure, cold ass logic.

Our goal as people should be to further the species. Push the ball forward for ours and future generations, leave the place in a better shape than we found it. The best of us do a hell of a job with that, the worst of us are a legitimate threat to the project. Where I don't advocate taking extreme action (violence in it's many forms, for example) against the worst of us except in extreme, existential circumstances (Hitler, for example), I don't think there's anything wrong at all (immoral, whatever the fuck you want to call it) with us having non-negative emotions (again, I don't give a fuck if it's happiness, relief, whatever) when the people who are a threat to the project have bad shit happen to them.

I'll be blunt. Trump in the position he's in now is a threat to the project and if he had an artery pop right now, we would be far better off without him. How I "feel" about that doesn't determine my morality.

Actually, I think it means you care less. You propagate the vicious circle. Your hatred begets hatred and will make the malignancy grow.

I agree. And I have done my best to help those in need to the best of my abilities. Sure it’s mostly dumping a ton of money into rehab programs, other charities etc but I give a shit when people can’t help themselves. I get that the GOP, and certain Democrats, chose to exploit them instead but that’s not me.

I think this is where the conflict arises in me. I agree the monsters need to be put down, I just really don’t understand the “joy” in it. What they do is tragic and is a cold reminder of the worst of us. Relief I get, joy i don’t. Maybe the natural human emotion is joy, I can tell you that I don’t feel that and neither do any of my kids. I know for a fact my wife doesn’t either
