OT: American Politics

But it was "these people" that were saying that right wing speech was not OK. But their speech is OK. That is what I am frustrated about.

And btw, I think each side should be allowed to argue with each other and that hurt feelings should be allowed. As long as no one is advocating for violence.
According to the right, January 6th was just "free speech".

eh i don't tnink so. in fact, there's plenty of jews participating in the protests.

highly doubt it's gonna happen.
you're doing the thing where the lived experiences of Jews are being dismissed because of the existence of a minority of Jews who support the protests.

it's like saying the Republicans aren't racist because Tim Scott is a Senator.

Biden represents much more of the left than the Squad, and yes, he condemned the antisemitism just like you.
so you think I am overreacting?

just seems like Jews are treated differently by 'progressives' than any other historically oppressed group. and these university incidents kinda make that point. and that combined with the massive rise in antisemitism everywhere makes me want to see obvious instances of it dealt with swiftly by the authorities who have the ability to do so.

I mean, since October 7, we're already at a point where Jews are not safe walking the streets of London on weekends, and Jews are not safe on certain university campuses. and they get protested outside community centres and houses of worship in Canada for the sole crime of existing (not to mention the firebombings and graffiti).

growing up it was drilled into our heads that the day would come when folks try to exterminate us again. seems that day is here. and the only option is to scream and fight against it as loudly as possible.

and to be clear, I'm not trying to antagonize you here zeke. just explaining where I am coming from and why the images, videos etc. I am seeing strike a chord and hit a nerve.
