Bragging random thought.
I live in the best place in North America geographically.
I live less than four hours away from the snow resorts in which I do not have to spend hours putting on chains, driving way too far with them on, and then taking them back off.
I live about 45 minutes from the Pacific Ocean.
I live 30 minutes from San Francisco, which is one of my favorite urban areas that I have been to.
The temperature stays pretty even keel pretty much for the whole year. In the winter, the average is probably around the 50's and the 80's for the summer. We get our hot days and our cold days, but those are usually short lived and then goes back to a nice temperature.
Many of the best companies to work for are here. Google, Yahoo, Apple, Intel, Netflix, Stanford University, Oracle, Sun, and the list keeps going on.
We get our natural disasters here also, but earthquakes are our only real concern, which happens on a large enough scale for us to really care about every 30-50 years. We get some localized flooding, but it rarely ever does significant damage. The midwest gets flooding every year, the southeast gets tornados every year, and the east gets their hurricanes. Oh, and I can't forget about the people up north, it gets really damned cold up there. I like cold weather, but -30 is a bit much. I do not like the idea of freezing my eyeballs.
Simply, there is all you can ask for in this region. Like sand dunes, we got em. yosemite. Yep. Rip roarin' rivers? Sure do.
You get the point. Be jealous, it's ok.
