OT: CFL Thread

It's a problem and especially so when the Ottawa franchise comes on board in 2013. There aren't enough good Canadian players to go around. However it doesn't help that a handful of good Canadians are playing in the NFL and many of them prefer to stay on NFL practice rosters rather than play up here. Somehow the CFL has to make to it more attractive for Canadian players to choose the CFL over a practice roster spot in the NFL (Sam Giguere is a good example)

Two things. (1) $$$ (2) Increase success rate of graduation to NFL. Show that playing is better than practicing.

You get 6K per week on the practice squad in the NFL. Sad that the CFL can't top that in some cases.

I wonder how much coin a star like Jamel Richardson is banking. I read he signed a 4 yr deal with the Als instead of going to the NFL for the bare minimum but I couldn't find more details.

The top players in the CFL get about $300,000-500,000/yr, that's about it.

and most make less than $80,000 a year

The top range is pretty nice. Beats working at Wal-Mart. Heck, so does the bottom range.

LOL ,well not really, the bottom range could as low as $40,000 or less if you are on a practice roster.

Heck most of the college players can get better starting salaries using their degree instead of playing football. But hey...for only six months of work and a lot of chicks...why not?

I think a lot of these guys have off season jobs.

Ultimately, playing a game you love and performing at a level that only a few of your peers can surpass is sure to be a rewarding experience.

You have to weight your options. Just this year a Hamilton Ticat player quit in his prime because he was offered a job with the local fire department. He knew this opportunity would probably never come again, the security and pay was better over the long term, he had to take it.

Pretty boring game. Was at my mom's for Count Jr's birthday and my sister insisted on watching the game. I would rather have watched the Eagles/Bears.

I pretty much would have fallen asleep had the house been quieter.

Exactly. There is no denying that the worst NFL team would probably beat the als but a college team? Give me a break.

There are a few teams that would beat them. If we talk history then there are more. Playing US rules I mean, not this Chinese fire drill at a red light faggoty shit. Although they'd still probably beat them then too.

Nah...most US College players can't make the NFL or the CFL.

Probably but Auburn would give them a good run. Auburn would have trouble defensively but no way the alouettes could stop Cam Newton, the man is a machine.

Habsy, are you happy FSU is getting shot at Va Tech in the ACC championship?

Surprised is more the term. FSU losing 3 games this year, two that were quite winnable, is unacceptable. They are there because the rest of the ACC sucks too.

Damn , the noble Lapin was hoping Shreveport would bring home the Grey Cup !

Bartend , another Sam's !

A bientot !

Yes!!! Boo away Riders fans, losers.

People were booing? Looked like 90% of the people walked to the exits. Not sure who stayed.

Maybe they should bitch and complain non-stop like the Als team. What a joke that was.
