OT: Movies/TV Shows

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen/TV Shows You Watch

I've tried to watch Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy about 4 or 5 times now, and I just can't get through it. I find it extremely slow, boring and hard to follow.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Saw "Seeking a Friend For The End of The World". Not a bad film at all. I'm not surprised it bombed in theaters, but it's a good film to see on a smaller screen at home. It's a film the "Ladies" will like, but the guys can enjoy it too. It's at times funny, charming and entertaining.

One negative is Steve Carrell's unhappy, awkward shy nice guy routine is getting real old. He's done it too much in films.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen/TV Shows You Watch

I think Daniel Day Lewis may just be the most overrated actor of all time.

The best thing he's done is to make himself so scarce that he's near impossible to sign, so he always ends up getting begged and banked. Kind of how DeNiro used to be, before he started making whatever shit anyone offered him.

Wish I'd seen that.

It's like watching an egg fry for about 10 minutes and then realizing you forgot to turn the stove on.

he is great

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen/TV Shows You Watch

I think there is some truth that Lewis doing a film every 5 years and is so picky builds up his lengendary status. I do think he is great though. There were moments in "There Will Be Blood" where he was on the cusp of being very hammy.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen/TV Shows You Watch

I thought his performance in There Will Be Blood stands as a monumental acting virtuoso performance in the history of modern cinema. To each their own.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen/TV Shows You Watch

Haven't seen all his films, but Daniel Day-Lewis was brilliant in Gangs of New York, In the Name of the Father, and There Will Be Blood.

Does anyone care what you and your replicants think any more? It wasn't his best performance, it didn't require him to go too far outside of what he is like in real life apparently. He is sullen, withdrawn and has quick flashes of extreme temper. Yet very ambitious. Seems pretty much what we saw in this movie.

teeds, the only poster here with a replicant is you.

Say hi to 'Caitlin' for us.
