OT: Movies/TV Shows

Oooooookay. So I got another warning from Rogers. Time to start being smart.

I've asked twice before and just let it go, but please let me know what VPN's you are using to download torrents anonymously.

Thanks!

Stop being a dummy, dummy.

Crazy easy to use (right click on the little red guy in your toolbar, and select the server you want to use....which will usually be based on what you're doing...for example if you want to access UK netflix....use a UK server, if you're just downloading from torrent, pick a server in a country that doesn't have DMCA type laws for the most protection, though even just selecting a non Canadian server would do)

I use Unblockus. https://www.unblock-us.com/

Can't say for sure that it's better than any other site, but for $5 a month I never have to change settings after the first time. I plugged in the settings they told me to and now if I use Netflix it's the American version. I also watch Hulu which is only available in the US. I can also stream off CBC which is only available in Canada. I never get any warnings about downloading.

Pia ad mindz stated is the one I use. It is the cheapest when you buy the year subscription as well and I put it on my desktop and laptop. I like how I can turn it on and off when I need to.

Pia also collects no info from you so they couldn't tell any provider anything. You can even pay with gift cards to create even greater anonymity

Saw Jurassic World in IMAX 3D the other day. My wife hates scary movies. She'll never let me pick a movie again after that one.

(ps, for Jurassic Park fans, this is somewhat of a disappointment. In 3D imax, it's just entertaining and not much more)

enjoyes jurassic. helps that i watched with 16yr olds.

but the action sequences were legit. and the rex battle ruled.

Good to hear. The trailers have been brutal. Maybe that's why it's BO #'s are so much lower than projections.

Yeah, I wasn;t expecting much from the trailers at all, a few laughs here and there, but nothing great. But it was so much better than I thought, and a lot better than the first. Definitely worth checking out.

Jurassic Park took a ton of liberties with the original novel and much of the associated "greatness" of the film has as much to do with nostalgia as anything. One of my favourites ever (saw it opening night as a 5.5 year old and was captivated - still am to a great degree), but it's become increasingly overrated over the years to the point that it's held up as some masterpiece, and it's just not. It's an amazing thriller/suspense film with a lot of memorable scenes and outstanding special effects that stand the test of time.

But the spirit of the original is in the most recent edition to a large extent. I enjoyed it. And sometimes there is nothing wrong with immersing yourself in a universe that is completely unrealistic to our own sensibilities, but is just pure fun and suspense. Go along for the ride and turn your critical thinking off for a couple of hours of pure escapism. Nothing wrong with that.
