OT: Movies/TV Shows

Recently read Cormac McCarthy's brilliant existential novel "The Road' but was fairly disappointed with the film adaptation of it. Then I watched "The Rover" the other night, and I thought it did a masterful job of playing with similar post-apocalyptic existential questions and themes. Not a flick for everyone, as it's very slowly paced and isn't the most uplifting movie you'll ever watch...but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great cinematography, the atmosphere, pacing & soundtrack all perfectly meshed with the story being told, and it has just a touch of a Lynchian vibe to it.

We watch defiance. It's started off with a bang this season so far. It's a fun show and an ok time waster.

That's what prompted my post. I was watching it alone, my wife had only a passing interest in this one, but I stopped about halfway(You can guess where probably) and had her watch the whole thing with me for all the "holy shit," moments.
She's fully invested now lol.

The Poltergeist remake is just terrible. Very dull, stupid and the kid actors are terrible. Should have dug up Heather O'Roarke.

For an IT/cybergeek guy I really liked the first episode of Mr Robot with Christian Slater. Kind of like the Matrix meets Fight Club as far as wiping out society's debt. Looking forward to more episodes.

Very cool. Big big fan of Rami Malek. Absolutely brilliant in the Pacific, just amazing as SNAFU. And I mean he was probably the best thing about Night of the Museum.

I have recently been going through and wathcing the films including on the American Film Institute's Top 100 list (and subsequently will be checking out their sub-categories for top tens and 100s), and I just finished Citizen Kane last night. It's crazy how influential the film's cinematography and style has been to the film-making genre.

And I can't believe how often it's been referenced or parodied in popular culture throughout the years, from films, to TV shows like The Simpsons, to musical lyrics. Just a great film with brilliant storytelling. It's hard to believe how critically lambasted it was upon its original release. It was a financial failure too. Orson Welles was such a monumental talent in the industry.

Next up: Gregory Peck (ranked number one on AFI's Top 100 Film Heroes List for his depiction of Atticus Finch) in the film adaptation of Harper Lee's classic, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Orson created many elements of film grammar for the next century. He was only 26 when the film was released.

Citizen Kane with Roger Eberts audio commentary track is something every film fan needs to watch/hear.....especially for anyone who doesn't "get" why it's the greatest film of all time.

A movie about the worst position in slo pitch?

Lame.

Oooooookay. So I got another warning from Rogers. Time to start being smart.

I've asked twice before and just let it go, but please let me know what VPN's you are using to download torrents anonymously.

Thanks!
