OT: Movies/TV Shows

I think they need to reboot spiderman again.

Funny guy.

The problem with Spidey has been Fox. With Fox coming to an agreement with Marvel for handling Spidey (and Spidey's inclusion in the broader MCU), I expect Spidey to be done much, much better this time around.

Fox has only really gotten X-Men correct so far. They've killed Fantastic Four and have put Spider-Man on life support. But they are making an R Rated Deadpool film so....

Meh, it took them a quasi reboot to get better at it as well. They ****ed up the Dark Phoenix saga badly imo, and were really only saved in general by excellent casting. Stories, effects, pacing, etc on the X Men movies were kind of meh but Stewart, Sir Ian, & Jackman were inspired casting efforts.

It kind of makes me forget how badly they did Juggernaut.

**** all you haters. I will be lining up with my 15 bucks for every single ****ing one of them.

Comic book and 80's cartoon flicks are basically the only thing I pay hollywood for these days. If I want masterful story telling, I'll read a book.

I assume you will accept the nomination for leader of the nerd Herd. :lol

I'd rather be that than one of these cinephiles that hasn't opened a book with any legitimate substance. I get my substance from books and my entertainment from popcorn flicks.

They're making a mistake with Spidey again.

Enough of him being a puny little high school twerp having just gained his powers.

Let's have a 30 -35 year old Spidey, like he seemed to generally be in the comics in recent years. Create a man version of the character for once.

+1ish

I like the idea of introducing a young spidey into a Sinister Six story line, but don't love the idea of doing it in a civil war storyline where PP has to balance his relationship with Tony Stark vs his attitude towards Superhuman registration.

I think that because it's not a Marvel property, they haven't really done a lot of strategic thinking about how Spidey should fit into the broader MCU

I must admit I'm amazed at how popular these movies are.

About the only time I watch movies of any type is when my (adult) daughter visits and she and she watches these super hero and fantasy type movies.

I'm scared and hopeful whenever I hear that someone is taking a crack at Gaiman's Sandman.

I don't see how they pull it off, but there's been a few in the last few years I didn't think they could manage so who knows? I do that know Joseph Gordon-levitt was working on some idea, but IMO animation is the only way to really pull it off.

Whatever, I am tickled pink to live in an era where I can watch my childhood on a huge screen with amazing effects and ear-splitting sounds...and it looks awesome.

The key point to the superhero movies is that since they draw from comic books, the plotlines are at least half-decent. The effects are certainly good enough that they don't have to worry about them, and since the characters are generally well developed, they just work well.

It's the movies like Transformers or San Andreas that are the "bad" popcorn flicks, where they don't really bother with plot or characters, they basically just want things to blow up. And then they shoehorn in a plot or characters after the fact, which really doesn't work.

To me, the academy type movies are your steak, the superhero movies are a good burger, and the ones like Transformers are like a McD's burger. So certainly I wouldn't put the Avengers up with the best movies of all-time, but I damn like my hamburgers, so if I haven't had one in a while, it tastes great. The big problem is that we're starting to get over-saturated, especially once you throw in the TV shows like Daredevil (or I guess Arrow and Flash as well) into the mix, but at the same time, after every Avengers movie I hate it when I look and see the next one isn't out for another year or two.

Massive Xman fan, but I tend to ignore X3. The first two, and the new ones are great.

Here is a question. What do movies cost for you guys? I am going to Ant man tonight, but the theatre I go to only costs 8 bucks. It also only has 3-4 English movies at a time.PIxels for example won't be in English next week.
