OT: NFL Thread

This is a very strange rule, but sometimes it can even be useful! To be honest, I stopped following live football a long time ago, as now the games have become quite boring. Perhaps some of you will not agree with me, but this is my opinion. I much prefer to play virtual football on my game console. Some games are so unpredictable that sometimes I get a shock after the game. Even in the games there is such a cool feature as donat. I often purchase MUT COINS, which allows me to improve my players. I think it's really cool, the amount of the donation is much less than the cost of a ticket to a cool football match, although the feelings after the game are similar.

Don't know the exact story or how they're able to restrict it via trademark law, but it's about being an official sponsor of the Super Bowl or not and what the NFL charges for that ability. Those advertisers were annoyed about every non-official sponsor having "Super Bowl Sales", etc.. and getting to use the name for free. So NFL benefits by being able to charge the hell out the ones that can use "Super Bowl" in their advertising. "Big Game" is the "you know what we're talking about" free alternative.

i get it in advertising but it extends beyond that

same probably applies via media rights, etc.. charge more to the ones that can use the name if their competitors can't.

you are not allowed to call it the super bowl

TV and radio must refer to it as the big game
it is weird and i do not understand how that benefits the NFL

News and other information sources can say "Super Bowl"

Yeah, it's a revenue thing. They can also call it the Championship Game legally.

Wut? The Eagles should be the ones who should be adding a first rounder to delete that awful contract from their franchise

I agree. Wentz must have negative value at this point. I can't believe that any team would include a high pick in a trade for him. This is probably just BS from the Eagles to try and drive up the price for him. And Eganoff is a "sports babe" in the Philly market but I don't think she's well-connected at all. She does sports news updates on one of the all sports radio stations here.
