Teams uses threats and bribery to steal money to enrich themselves. If no states/cities would cave in, professional sports would still exists.

Same could be said about a lot of major spends though. I know a ton of stadia could be built for what we have sent elsewhere.
I'm told we vote in people who get to spend our money as they see fit.
If i thought the money spent on a stadium would solve homeless issues, or build all necessary hospitals, build new roads, more fuzz I would be against it, but they won't. It will be wasted on other shit that serve no purpose

The Chiefs weren't based in Kansas. They did nothing wrong here with regard to Kansas taxpayers. I don't think you can threaten "to not move there" effectively.

Well people in Kansas City, Missouri did vote against using public funding for the stadium last year.

The economics of pro sports are dubious. Fundamentally, it is discretionary consumer spending that can be easily redirected. So for example, no Expos, sure, but Montreal has F1, tennis, Osheaga, Lasso, etc etc. It depends heavily on disposable income that is generated by other economic activity. So, economically, does the absence of MLB really matter? It’s marginal at best. Everyone here has been to Montreal in the summer - it’s a busy place, with non-stop events and lots of spending.
Also, economic studies absolutely take indirect and downstream impacts into account. That’s bread and butter stuff.
Building a stadium… that’s a major capital expenditure. But there’s plenty of competition there too… especially public infrastructure and the condo boom we’ve seen in recent years. That keeps the steel, concrete, wiring, hvac and tradesmen going…
To that end, one has to ask what else KC Missouri can do with the money not spent on a facility.

The one thing about this situation is some tax base stealing across a state border. Very specific to this case.

Not sure why you keep focusing on the fans when I’m talking about taxpayers. Technically KC Missouri wins this one, they get to enjoy it without paying for it, because the team found a sucker across the river.

That’s a reasonable take. NFL is monopoly/cartel, so gaining access as a fan has value. The fan base doesn’t change at all in this case, so all the math is on tax/subsidy relationship and I dunno if Kansas recoups with this deal.

Yep. The fans only really lose if the team moves to, for example, San Diego. After that if becomes a tax/subsidy calculation.
