Totally agree, I find the all inclusive and cruise stuff to not be what I’m looking for with travel. I think all inclusive works for people who plan on getting hosed every night cause otherwise many countries that offer all inclusive are just plain cheaper to do on your own.I have stayed very far away from cruises and all inclusives because I’m one of those travellers that views the whole experience as 75% “work”. Exploring new ground, getting lost, having a confusing meal, are all part of what I sign up for. I bake in 25% of decompression by booking a few days at a beach or other resort type environment
When I cruise I don’t usually purchase excursions unless they are really cool or for the kids like swimming with dolphins etc.I have stayed very far away from cruises and all inclusives because I’m one of those travellers that views the whole experience as 75% “work”. No I’m suggesting their forecast models for ventilators were grossly off but understand that they were only going off the information available at the time. You're not suggesting the steps taken in the US were... irrational or an overreaction, I hope?

I highly doubt you've even had Beau's since you've never mentioned it before but you'd be surprised at the selection of beer and wine they had on there. It was one of their selling points. The bad news is I don't travel to get shit faced on a fucking boat. Or anywhere really.TLDR: You’re unlikely to find Beau’s on a cruise ship. For that reason, I’m out.
You’re not drinking enough or trying hard enough thenYou can't necessarily truly enjoy anywhere in 12 hours but it sparked some ideas for my vacations for the next 10 years or so.
And there’s my answerThe bad news is I don't travel to get shit faced on a fucking boat. Or anywhere really.
Yeah I don't like getting shit faced on vacations. I can understand doing that at home in every day life but I want to remember my vacations. You’re not drinking enough or trying hard enough then
Shit faced no but a good buzz keeps you moving all day long. Unless you’re someone that doesn’t get adventurous when they have a few.yeah, getting shit faced every night eats up too much “discovery” time
Yeah and sometimes it's part of the whole "exploring" thing. Like going to an Izakaya in Shinjuku and pounding a few back is a fairly mandatory experience. But shit faced? Nah. My hangovers have gotten way more deadly as I've gotten older. I would never want to kill the next day or three because I had too much to drink and blacked out one night.Believe me, I make sure to sample every last drop of local wines and spirits. Alcoholic beverages are part of every lunch and dinner (unless I’m in Egypt or some other Muslim country). I’ll drink constantly and moderately throughout the day, but 95% of the time I will refrain from all night binge fests. Usually save those up for the end of the trip when I have less exploring to do.
I know this is a popular narrative but so far nobody that needed a ventilator has gone without.
