seems like they’ll take it easy with Udogie and let him fully recover from his knock, didn’t even make the bench. Bentancur back is incredible, suspect he’ll sub in late for Sarr if things are going well.

think this is Diers first appearance in the squad for a bit as well. He’d been behind Phillips for a while.

Vicario robbed of his 5th clean sheet, insane VAR didn’t overturn that clear handball.

Still, feels great being 5pts clear & guaranteed to hold first through the weekend tho.

goddamn I love this dude…..so badly want to get his kit, but 37 is such a janky ass number, same with Udogie and 38.

only thing keeping Romero (17) and Bissouma (8) ahead of them in my pecking order of kits. Wish Skipp would give VDV the more classic #4 as our elite defender….since my 1961 Danny Blanchflower retro kit already has #4 on it. (Was Romero’s first kit number too, which was sweet.)

Mea culpa as someone who thought Kulusevski wasn’t a fit for a Postecoglou system as he lacked the breakaway speed often seen in Angie’s wingers, I couldnt have been wrong about him….he’s been a poor man’s Kevin DeBruyne for us from the wing, and is the rare mid/forward who consistently plays all 90+ mins for us.

Yet another huge feather in the cap of Don Paratici, who secured him for us for £8.7m for two years of him on loan, and then only another £26m for a permanent transfer after that, but also meant because of the loan structure up front his 5 year extension only kicks in this year….and he’s only 23. Remarkable deal by Paratici on top of all the other HR deals he made (Udogie, VDV, Romero, Vicario, Bentancur)….anyone he plucked from Serie A, has panned out brilliantly for us.

On Udogie @zeke one of the biggest compliments I can give him, is just how noticeably he’s been missed…..the way Palace was able to clog up the midfield really surprised me, in a manner that having Bissouma back didn’t make nearly the difference not having Udogie did.

For how great we’ve generally been playing out from the back, so much of it is through Destiny (94th percentile in progressive carries over last 365 across the top 5 leagues) but also the threat of him bursting out from the back opened up so much more room through the middle for the likes of Bissouma, Maddison and Sarr to carry it up themselves if teams start to shade their midfielders towards Udogie.

We got our act together in the second half and had more success, but it required some tactical changes and didn’t come as fluidly or effortlessly as it does when Destiny is out there.

Two players he most compares to this year are Kyle Walker, and €90m man Gvardiol…..but has still been better than both imo. If he’s not already the best LB in the Prem, he will be by this time next year.
