OT: The M-Fing Food Thread

For anyone who cares and is from the city proper, Portnoy did his one bite youtube thing through Toronto recently and scored a bunch of the top reputation places. The general takeway was that Toronto's pizza basically stacks up well with anyone, anywhere.

I'm one of the few who dislikes Maker -- too doughy. It sure looks pretty, though. Perfect for Insta marketing.

Blondies is good but still not elite
I was disappointed with Maker too. Very overrated. Then again, I say that about all the highly rated spots in Toronto. I occasionally crave a slice, but it takes 30 minutes of prep work to make something and modify it to my preferences so that's usually the route I take. If it took any finesse or was anything more than tasty junk food I wouldn't be able to effortlessly pump out a product that compares favorably to the top slices in the city.

Badialis..NoB (Queen W location)..Superpoint
are my elite slices though NoB stopped serving it by the slice when Covid started

It’s ‘good’ but that hardly cuts it. Brothers like me and Dave demand greatness from our slices.
Oh I do too, but he didn't seem to only enjoy it at a 6 level. Looked to me like his score didn't match his own assessment.

-1.5 for deep structural problems: heavy and impossible to eat without utensils

Also took points off for it being bready. He rightfully judges heavier slices harder than light slights. It had better be fucking incredible if 2 slices make you need a nap.

Feeling that perfectly thin crunch contrasting the soft cheese and sauce is what elevates proper pizza to an highly addictive substance for me.

I like thin crust best too, but I'd probably be lying if I said it wasn't in large part due to keeping bread intake down. That driver keeps me from having REAL pizza more than like half a dozen times a year. I love bread a lot, so if carbs weren't an issue, I might enjoy a doughy cheesy slice just as much as the thin slice, or more depending on certain variables.
