So yeah, not sure about everyone else, but I'm getting convinced that global warming is for real.
holy crap this weather rocks.
Sun blamed for Europe’s colder winters
When the Sun’s magnetic output is low, winters in Europe tend to be cooler than average – whereas higher output corresponds to warmer winters. That is the conclusion of a new study by physicists in the UK and Germany that looked at the relationship between winter temperatures in England and the strength of the Sun's magnetic emissions over the last 350 years. The group predicts that, global warming notwithstanding, Europe is likely to continue to experience cold winters for many years to come.
The possibility of a link between European winter temperatures and solar activity can be seen in historical records from the second half of the seventeenth century. For about 50 years the Sun remained free of sunspots (in contrast to its normal 11-year cycle of sunspot highs and lows) and at this time Europe experienced a number of harsh winters. Motivated by the fact that the relatively cold winters of the past few years have come at a time when solar activity fell to the lowest values for 100 years, Mike Lockwood of the University of Reading and colleagues set out to establish whether or not there is a strong connection.
Lockwood and colleagues used data from the Central England Temperature record. This provides monthly temperature data from several monitoring stations in central England all the way back to 1659 – the world's longest instrumental temperature record. The researchers first removed the estimated contribution from the warming recorded in the northern hemisphere as a whole over the past century – which is widely believed to have been caused by increasing levels of manmade carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Hemispheric temperature records data back to 1850; to extend the analysis back to 1659 they used data from a number of different proxy sources, such as tree rings, isotope concentrations in stalagmites, sediment depths, lake heights and documentary evidence.

Do NOT read this......
It's amusing to see that they have an undeniable direct link between the sun and changing weather, particularly in Europe, which they have more extensive records, but somehow, by wilful disconnect, it's CO2 changing the weather in the rest of the world where they have hardly any data past a hundred years or so.
Ohh....I forgot. They measured tree rings and magically conjured up three decimal accuracy.
So yeah, not sure about everyone else, but I'm getting convinced that global warming is for real.
holy crap this weather rocks.
I've found myself going to places (like the Bluffs) and going "why is it closed/boarded up/unsupervised?" and then realizing it's because it's ****ING MARCH.
National Temperature
The national average temperature for the winter of 2010/2011 was 2.5°C above normal, based on preliminary data, which makes this the 6th warmest winter since nationwide records began in 1948. The warmest was just last year, 3.9°C above normal, and at 3.2°C below normal 1971/1972 was the coolest
Absolutely. Me and a bunch of buddies had a barbeque tonight.I am a HUGE fan of global warming.
Tanning in march? the best.
Still unclear is how many people actually received the false Elections Canada robocalls that directed voters to the wrong polling stations. Court documents filed by Mathews in September said call logs showed 281 people called the prepaid "burner" cellphone used to launch the fraudulent Guelph calls on May 2 after the number appeared on their caller ID screens.
Mathews said a voice-broadcasting expert told him that robocalls typically solicit a one per cent callback rate. "On that basis, he was of the view that the Elections Day calls to electors must have numbered in the thousands, even assuming a significantly higher call back rate by upset electors," Mathews said.
Investigators have obtained records from the Edmonton voice broadcasting company that are believed to show exactly who got the calls and where they lived, as well as payment information that is helping trace the origin of the suspect known as "Pierre Poutine."
This oughta go over like a lead balloon...Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty has a growing lead over Conservative Leader Tim Hudak, according to new data from Nanos Research.
The new poll, based on a telephone survey of 500 voting-age Ontarians, shows the provincial Liberals have seen their popularity rise in recent weeks, with 39.9 per cent of those polled saying they would vote for their local Liberal candidate.
The Conservatives followed in second, with 30 per cent support, with the NDP in third place with 24.7 per cent. The Green Party trailed a distant fourth with 4.3 per cent.
The Liberals' numbers were consistent with polling conducted in November 2011, though the Conservatives recorded a drop of 4.5 percentage points in that same period.
When those polled were asked about the personal leadership qualities of the party leaders, McGuinty also came out in front. In total 80.7 per cent found the Liberal leader to be the most trustworthy, competent, and to have the best vision for Ontario. That was a drop, however, from 87.4 per cent in November.
Hudak followed in second with 61.3 per cent choosing him as the best leader, while NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was in third with 45.6 per cent of those polled saying she had the best leadership qualities.
Any proof yet?
