OT: The News Thread

Yeah, ideally you would want the leader to be well educated and have credentials. Unfortunatley way too often highly-educated people have really unattractive personalities.

Would have worked out fine if he wasn't an opportunist of the highest order in conjunction with having the personality of a 4 x 4 fence post.

Bring in Sascha Trudeau... that's the guy I'd vote for.

Both he and his father learned about the world by exploring it and seeing all the good and bad places before doing something.

Justin sat at home and read about things with his mother and went on those charity events to make him look humble.

Sascha's the man

I have waxed poetically about the diametrical differences between him and his brother on many a comments section or political forum over the years.

He's the Trudeau I have respect for insofar as that is possible given the last name. He's certainly a much brighter, more worldly person than Justin and I think the Liberal Party would much prefer him given the choice.

Sascha is like his father. Justin is his mother's son.

If the Liberal Party wanted to actually be taken seriously they should have selected another candidate. It's as simple as that. They should have approached Frank McKenna and backed a dump truck's worth of financial donations to his house.

Instant credibility there.

Sure. At least he wouldn't have used those donations to pay a Senator's taxes, speaking of credibility.

I would agree with this. Sascha is the better sibling to lead this country.

The guy barely considered himself a Canadian until the Liberals came calling....and that's cool, he has a very international background and considered himself an international cosmopolitan. But, why bother running for office in Canada if you honestly don't give much of a **** about it?

Blind opportunist trying to break into the big boy club of international power brokerage, nothing more.

and yeah, personality rivalled by that of a medium sized bowl of cottage cheese.

Ugh. That's quite the British smile she's got going on there.

I have it on pretty good authority that frank McKenna's wife was absolutely opposed to any kind of federal leadership run, and that's pretty much why it never happened.

Hard to say how much that actually matters though. Do I 'care' about Denmark? No. But given the chance I don't think I'd run it with any less passion or intensity or whatever than I'd run Canada. At the end of the day, unless you're a total shit you're going to give 'running a country' your full attention. Even George 'I'd rather snort coke than fly jet fighters' Bush more or less gave it his all when he got handed the keys to a country. Plus, he probably just plain felt he could run it well.

Doesn't make him a good choice, but I don't see it as the big black mark some people do, especially given the other choices being so weak.

Did Bush live in another country and consider himself that nationality for years on end?

Texas is a whole'nother country.

I get what you're saying, but I think the idea that he would have governed as if he 'didn't care about' Canada is silly. You could ascribe a few negative emotions to him, but apathy doesn't seem like something he approaches anything with.

Dr. Conrad Murray, (Michael Jackson's last doctor):
Don't incite me to testify. Consider this as an imminent nuclear warning. Enough is enough.
As if that will stop the courts from forcing you to testify.
Besides, what's he got on the Jacksons anyway? Pictures of Michael sleeping in the same bed as McCaulay Culkin? Who cares... that ship sailed a long time ago.
This guy needs to just shut up and go serve his time.

I don't think it means he doesn't care about Canada.

But the prospective leader of a country should probably live in the country that they hope to govern. :lol

Hey, the rules for Financial Planners changed in Australia recently. Instead of paying the adviser by buying products, you'll have to pay a service fee instead.
Better sell that Bmer, Cork! lol!

Any reasons why?

I don't think she liked ottawa and all the publicity, travel, and stress associated with being a politician on the national stage. I know how cliched this kind of stuff is, but I can tell you this isn't the "I heard it from my barber's, cousin's, dogwalker" kind of thing. There was definitely a period when it looked like this guy was very well positioned to make a major leap into a leadership role, and I never understood why he didnt until I got this info. His wife apparently didnt want the lifestyle.

"Putin caught a pike weighing more than 21 kilograms," the president's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters in Moscow. "This is a huge, gigantic animal... Steaks were made from the fish, very tasty."

EPIC ****ING SOVIET NEWS STORY.
