OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

A lot of changes should happen this offseason for the Raptors. They need to get some legitimate starters at the two forward spots. And they need to fire Casey.

I'm not sure they get should get rid of Casey or not.

Improvements made to the lineup will likely yield better results than firing the coach. Lowry was off the entire playoff and wouldn't be surprised to hear he was playing hurt. Derozan isn't a superstar so expecting him to win a series on his own is asking too much. Val needs to improve. People talking about Casey's mismanagment of Val need to realize this guy needs to improve and be better than he's been. He is prone to bad decision making on the floor. His foul control is weak. He is definitely still a project. Ross is a bust at this point. He should be a lot better than he is and i wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by the draft.

As Matrim mentioned i would look to improve the 2 forward spots. I would do that before i fire Casey. I think Casey for whatever he lacks in tactical offensive coaching ability makes up for it as a good communicator and motivator. The team isn't down because of lack of effort. The shots that they make fairly consistently are being missed. Lowry is a guy we need at 100%.

We are in a good position to improve the team for next season. Couple of guys with decent value that can be traded to improve the roster somewhere else. I hope we get something good in the draft. We need to hit on some of these draft picks in the 16+ range.

Casey absolutely has to go.

If he's not willing to use the current big men we have in lieu of jump shooting then how do we know he'll do it for new bigs?

Also, he might be the worst adapter i've ever seen.

Washington was in the penalty with 9 minutes to go, ****ing 9 minutes and the team refused to go inside to get to the line, only made it 4 times during those final 9. That's embarrassing.

Also, it's bad enough the team loves it's threes, but they weren't even moving the ball around or using the full shot clock. Dribble, dribble, three or awkward fadeaway 2, only using 10 of the 24 seconds. Just horrible basketball.

Casey just has to go. How can you let an offense settle on SO many 3-pointers? We don't run enough quality offensive sets to attack the basket and consistently settle for outside shots. And the way we shoot the 3 in transition is just asking to turn the ball over on nights where we don't have our shooters going.

He is a very solid defensive coach, but that side of the game has been terrible for us.

And his rotations are just awful. His usage of JVal has been bad for the past two seasons and he doesn't react well to the ebb and flow of the game. It's like he comes in with a strategy and then never adapts to how the game is going.

As for the team, right now we have the following for 2015-16:

Lowy - Vasquez
DD
Ross - JJ - Caboclo
PPat
JVal - Nogueira

With roughly $19 million in cap space assuming the cap goes up to the expected $67 million, we have a nice chunk of space for some moves.

Personally, I think we should target Greg Monroe, resign Lou Williams and then get Amir back with the MLE. Add in whoever we get with our first this year and that is a solid roster that will be fine to compete again next season.

The way I see it is that teams build slowly and being a consistent playoff team is the first step in then becoming a consistent contender (unless you sign/trade for a TOP 5-10 talent, which we probably won't do).

Casey got us to this level, now we need to find another coach to push us forward.

I only bring Lou back if he's cheaper than Greivous and we can move Greivous.

Raps have 3 of the bottom 4 shooting % players that averaged more than 15 ppg.

Screw having all these chuckers.

That's fair. But I would prefer Lou to GV. Greivis IMO just shoots too much for a back-up PG and is a little slow. However, it is nice to have a flex guy at PG/SG. Lou reminds me of a Jamal Crawford type and I would love to shorten up our rotation so guys can have more of an impact on a nightly basis.

Plus, we need more James Johnson.

Yeah, Casey needs to go. This has been a pretty pathetic performance. I expect Masai to be making some significant changes this offseason.

As any idiot has observed, our offence is based on guard play and chucking, and our defence is non-existent. Those both come back to coaching. Not to mention the rotation and match up issues.
