That's overly harsh really...but I hope Thabeet really works on his game, it needs the work. Thabeet could turn into a really, really dominant defensive player. But he's incredibly raw at both ends of the court. He didn't even start playing basketball until he was 15-16, and he's got some co ordination issues.
If by "Dampier", that exec means the 12/12/2 career season Dampier, sure...but I think even that's selling Thabeet's potential short. Thabeet could become a 10-12+ board, 3-4 block defensive menace. Memphis has little reason to be patient with him at the NBA level though, they already have a very good, very young 7'1 centre, and one of the top PF's in the league.
