This is fascinating.

Atlanta is like a fringe thing in the East

OKC just saves money and pils up seconds

Ricchassier is probably a bum, but Dallas is wise to find out

Yeah, I like what Atlanta is doing, but there isn't enough talent there to be a real problem unless they managed to hit a homerun with Flemings.

OKC is very well run, but we knew that already. Traded 3 good NBA rotation bodies this summer, and are still probably the deepest team in the league.

Gafford is probably better than Poetl

Nah. Just like the Turner conversations, this is reputation over impact.

The conversation really comes down to a forward look at Jake's health. This was his worst season since 2018. If you think his back is cooked and it's all down from here, then yeah, get off of the deal by any means necessary. If his back is fine though, he's overpaid but valuable. If you can move sideways into a cheaper player of similar impact without giving up anything significant to do so, great. But none of these mid tier guys are actual upgrades. It's what made Sabonis appealing, at least he would be an obvious and significant upgrade.

yeah Gafford is one of those Cs that is good in a very specific and limited role. He can never have the ball in his hands other than when he's above the rim.

the perception will be that Gifford is more valuable, thus I’m not interested in that swap.

Let Bittle/TJD get minutes early and see if they are anything to avoid killing CMB. You can likely overpay for a big at the deadline if it’s a necessity
