OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Gravy winning the SG bum fight tonight. Okai and Jakobe a combined 2-10

People complain about out lack of bench bigs but the truth is Mamu and CMB have been pretty excellent backup bigs.

RJ isn't THAT good but the dropoff to the Bench SG Bumshow is gonna stop us from being a top team i think.

Mamu has been an excellent stretch big, but CMB hasn't been anything resembling excellent. He's been fine, but just fine. Encouraging for a 20 yr old rookie, but there's a lot of productivity missing in his game right now. Obviously doesn't score, but also has weak rebounding rates (especially defensive rebounding, his drb% is only ahead of Jakob and Shead on the team), TO% double his AST%, worst net rating on the team.

I agree entirely about the SG drop off, but we need both. We need a guard who can 3&D, and we need a bench big who can defend and rebound. Both are in the way of being a legit top 4 team in the conference imo.

CMB has had rookie stutters but he's showed more than enough and will keep getting better.

Not as a backup C.

But it's not just stutters. It's current limitations. He doesn't do much well that has to do with the ball in or around his hands. He's really good at the stuff that doesn't require the ball near him. Super limited right now.

He's shown more than enough to stat in the rotation and have a role on the team, but he definitely hasn't shown that he can defend the NBA paint.

Happy LEBRON day.

The first day current-season LEBRON is available. I'll add it to the average now:

Notes:

- after a great start, BI's recent chucking ways have really hurt. He's gotta stop chucking like this.
- Scottie is slowly but surely working his way back up into elite status now that he has talent around him.
- RJ surprised me last year by showing he could be a legit solid average full-time starter. This year he's been a step up from that - he's already showing as solidly above average with potential to be just plain good
- Quickley is just plain good

- Mamu and Shead are both legit and give us a nice 7 man rotation
- CMB/Dick/Walter are all in the bad category still. Though that's actually a nice step up for both Dick and Jakobe, who were awful before this year.
- CMB looks the most positive here - he's playing the most minutes, his numbers are all slightly better than the other two, the lagging number is his EPM which is a bit unfair because he has to work himself up from the rookie default startng point around -3. And of course he's not just the youngest but these are the first 20gms of his career and he already looks better than Dick and Jakobe are now and much better than they ever were before now.
- Agbaji is terrible

Holding his own so far defensively on all metrics in his first 20gms of his career, in real usage.
